My guys just turned 2 this week but I think this is more relevent here than in the next group. We are still in cribs. Been down to 1 nap in the afternoon for some time.

My guys (mainly one more than the other) won't nap until close to 3pm. And they usually take 3 hours naps... so, yeah it is way too close to dinnertime.

I have been putting them down for nap at 1:15pm right after lunch. I read to them to calm them down. It usually helps. Then I leave and I just hear giggles & throwing of favorite sleeping friends until they conk out. I use the blackout curtains during naps.

How can I get them to calm down and be out for nap at 1:30-2pm? It's hard for me to move lunch earlier since we usually get home from Gymboree or "school" 2 days a week and go straight to lunch routine. I have been waking them up no later than 5:30pm.

They go to bed lights out at 8:30pm, and I get them at 7:20am to start our day.

Are they having trouble going to sleep for you at night? Because if they are still going to sleep easy for you at night, I'd leave the nap time be. How long does it take them to go to sleep when you put them down at 1:15? The only suggestion I could come up with is you sit in the room with them and "shh" them, don't interact with them so that they know it's time to sleep and not play

They go to bed fine. Nice & tired. Looks like I gotta nap when they nap :) To show them it's time to nap!

Just keep putting them down at the time you want them to nap and eventually, it will happen.
