Nap - They are still asleep!

This past week or so, I've been having to wake them from naps. Naps usually run 12:30-2:30 or 3:00 at the latest. Lately, with bed and naptime, they don't fall asleep right away, they stay up and play and talk a bit, then go to sleep. Bedtime it can be up to an hour sometimes (mostly it's Bea, but she can keep Ainsley up), naps it's usually no longer than 15 minutes.

Today is an anomaly in that we had a playdate that ran long this morning, pushed nap back by 30 min. But still, I went in at 3:15, turned the light on, touched them each lightly, said "Wake up babies", and they are still sleeping! I don't want to shout or anything, usually just me coming in wakes them up. I figure if they are that out of it, they need the sleep.

Anyway, since most days now I have to wake them from their nap, does that mean I should change something about their night sleep? They go to bed at 7:00 and wake around 7:00. Like I said though, they almost never fall asleep right at 7:00 though. Is this the reason for the long naps? And, do you all think I should be waking them to make sure they go to bed ontime, or just let them sleep. I really do like the 7:00 bedtime, but would be OK with 7:30.

Have you ever let them sleep, just to see how long they'll go?

I don't really have any advice, but was just curious about that part. We had one monster nap last week -- they slept from like 12:30-3:30, which is totally unprecedented -- but A&S are still usually 2-hr nappers. I love the 7:00 bedtime too -- in a way, I dread them getting older and having to push it back. Although it will be nice to be able to have dinner with people and not rush home....

Yeah me too. I'm usually ready for some me time by 7:00. But like you said, it would be nice to go out in the evening and stuff. If they are still napping long by the weekend, I'll try it then. I don't like messing with things during the week in case it goes wrong.
Today was the only day I just let them sleep, because of the nap starting later. I'm too chicken usually to let it go past 3:00, in fear of messing up bedtime.

ACK! They are still awake at bedtime! It's 8:43, they went to bed at 7:00. <_< They are never up this late. OK, now I know, I should have woke them up at 3:00, they ended up sleeping till 3:40.

this has happened to me this week too and it's so annoying. with it being light later they just aren't always ready for bed.

if they are over tired they would have trouble going to bed.

more later, mine just woke up from a peaceful sleep. great.
