Now i know that my babies are getting older but they have always been really good with their naps. Lately they have decided that they are only going to have 1/2 hour naps (from 1 1/2 to 2hour naps). It is driving me demented as they are so grumpy from not sleeping as much and are crying all the time. Any one have any advice for this or is this them just telling me that they dont need as much sleep any more x

As mine get older, the naps get shorter. Mine are sleeping about 30-45 min 2x a day. Sorry no advice, just wanted to let you know I am in the same boat [IMG]

We went through a stage like that right around 8 or 9 months. But eventually they went back to sleeping well again. It was just a phase!

I'm right here with ya, sister. Mine were doing long naps as little tiny babies, then 30-45 and recently it's been 20. But today one of them took an hour and 15 minutes, so it is possible and there is hope for us all, I think!

usually abigail tries some times to get up after 40 min but i let her cry for a few minutes and she is usually back down for another 1hr. we still do 3 naps a day around 1.5- 2 hour naps as well. but yeah if one gets up i just let them cry- cause like you i know it's not long enough and then they are just crabby.

another thing we did with them was push the nap time back- so they are up longer after they eat and then they tended to sleep better during naps and longer. for example eat 7am and nap at 9-1030

I'm totally with you on this. We've been having major issues with naps the last few weeks. The only consolation is they are sleeping better at night. Well they WERE, now my son hasn't been because he has a tooth coming in.

My singleton is a little older than yours (15 months), and my wife and I have probably forgotten all of our twins nap specifics from that age frame, but with Holden, some of those shorter naps tend to take place when he just isn't feeling 100%. Whether it's teething, a cold, breathing issues (he's showing signs that one day he could have asthma?), when he's not feeling great he takes shorter naps. But then when he does get back to normal he'll tend to catch up and take some longer naps again.

I think I remember them getting shorter with my DS. What ended up happening was he started having one longer nap in the afternoon a day. He also went to bed a little later also. The grumpiness lasts until they get used to really have one nap a day. Same grumpiness comes when they stop napping too. YAY [IMG] something to look forward too.

Thank you for all your replies. It is mostly my dd that is doing this she just will not sleep any longer than a hour. Ds is doing it during the night i was up every 2 hours for at least 1/2 a hour last night as he kept screaming like someone is killing him! I have bags under my eyes and am so tired. Basically i look like s**t and feel like s**t! I am more tired now than ever. I do think he is starting to teeth so i am putting gel on at every opportunity and that seems to help a little. Hopefully they will get out of this annoying stage and will be a little more happy. Untill then all i can do is keep on smiling! [IMG] x
