one LO needs some soothing before going down for his nap. i let him sit with me in the rocking chair, i try holding him, singing, everything.
he pumps his legs and fusses and needs to be gently shaken and swayed back and forth in order to fall asleep.

is there a better way to soothe him so he calms down in my arms and falls asleep more easier?

Is he not sleepy or is he just being needy? If he's not sleepy, I would try really keeping him active during his awake time so he gets tired. Or maybe move their naptime. If he's needy, I would try to fulfill his needs in other ways, like talking to him while you do something else.

hes sleepy; it's when their naptime comes that he begins literally freaking out. once i calm him, hes right out. i was just looking for some new ways to soothe him perhaps.

Possibly overtired. Also, all of mine eventually started being disturbed by "help" going to sleep. The needed to just be put down, fuss for a few minutes and then out they'd go. I'd try changing up your routine a bit and see if that helps.

I nurse them or read them a book, put them down and leave. They fall asleep easily on their own (staying asleep is another story for DS). Starting at around 5-6 months they no longer responded to being rocked to sleep or other "soothing" measures.

Maybe you could trry to give him a little lovie to hold on to one of my little one does that too, but as soon as he has his lovie, he just brings it to his head and calms down.[IMG]

I've started to make sure Annabella has a little bear/blanket thing in her crib that is soft she can rest on. She has a pacifier as well. I turn on the sound machine, as well as the mobile in her room for her to go to sleep. If she cries after I put her down, I will pat her butt(she sleeps on her stomach), and kinda bounce her a little as I am doing so, and that does the trick. She goes to sleep pretty quickly that way-if she wakes up once I put her down.

they already use lovies. i feel bad. :( i feel like once i return to work i'll regret not rocking them, etc.
i also would like to go out every once in a blue moon, etc. and we don't because of their sleeping situation. no one is able to put them to bed.

even more so, one LO wakes up mid naps everyday and it would be nice if he could sleep the full time, lol!
