I thought as they got older they got more consistent with naps?? Not true in our household. DS has decided for the past week or so that he doesn't need to nap longer then 30min. I put him down for his morning nap at around 9am, and it takes him like 20-30min just to fall asleep and then he wakes up 30min later! He does the same for the afternoon nap. And when he wakes up he waits about 10min and then starts screaming like crazy. I have assumed the last week that he has a dirty diaper and that is why he is waking up, but when I check it, its clean. And of course me walking out of the room after checking his diaper to leave him in his crib for the full 1.5hrs just starts a frenzy of crying! I am so tired of the crying...he cries when he first wakes up in the morning, he cries to fall asleep, he cries when he wakes up from naps - when does the crying end???!!

Is he teething? Maybe that's the culprit. Or maybe he's ready to drop a nap.

 I know how frustrating it is though!

We had some of the same issues around 9-10 months. They were really fighting the morning nap. It was a phase for us so hopefully they will go back to sleeping soon. Are they learning anything new-starting to crawl, pull up? That can wreak havoc on a good nap.

For us the crying did end and then it would start again. I hate the crying before and after naps. It stinks. I know that by the end of the first year they were no longer doing it and now at almost 2 they go down quiet but it is hit or miss as to who wakes up on the wrong side of the crib.

That's how DD1 behaved about a week before her tooth broke through .....

Ugh, that is the worst! Like the other posters said he could be teething or on the verge of learning something new. We are going through the same thing with Luke right now he's teething and learning to crawl and so naps have been virtually impossible with him lately!

Mine do that sometimes too... I just get them up and put them down for their next nap 2.5 hours later, as usual. Usually it lasts just a couple days.

I am lucky if I get 45 minutes out of mine. I know your pain!
