For over a week now Sofie has been boycotting her afternoon nap, and today she decided against a morning nap as well! I am going nuts over here listerning to her whine! I want to rip my eardrums out!

She is eating well, I dont *think* she is teething, I dont think she has an ear infection, she's not crying just whining. She is also not as nice or cuddly as she usually is, she has been pinching me, trying to rip my eyebrows off, shoving her hands in my mouth, hitting and kicking me, and did I mention the whining?!?!
She is so close to crawling though. She is not going to sleep until she learns how to crawl, huh?? Is that what is going on here?

    I am going 8P

Is she frustrated she can't crawl yet? Of course, being frustrated about that wouldn't stop her from napping. Maybe calling the dr. would help. Sorry it's so tough right now :hug99: .

Ah the developmental milestone nap strike. Livi does this every time she learns a new skill, when learning to pull up it was 12 agonizing days. She's probably cranky b/c she's tired but won't sleep, it's a vicious cycle.

I wish I had some advice, but know that it's a phase, just keep being consistent about how you lay her down and eventually things will go back to normal.

Yes! I think you hit the nail on the head! She is learning a new skill, and a lot of times that will disrupt sleep. :hug99:

No advice here either....So far this has not interrupted Nicholas' sleeping-YET! He is SO close to crawling soon-I can't stand it! Other times-I just think he is going to skip crawling and go right to walking. Trouble I tell ya.

He has mastered a new skill though we found out over the weekend-going from laying down to sitting up-in his crib. Ya-I can see that getting in the way! Yikes!

My girls always have disrupted naps when they are getting close to hitting a developmental milestone, and then they reach it and sleep like crazy!

I used to put them in their cribs for an hour, twice a day, and if they slept great and if not, it was a break for me. They never cried, sometimes fussed or whined, but I left them there. They definitely needed the downtime regardless.

I have been putting her down at naptime even though she is not sleeping, and then I am watching the clock. I leave her there for an hour and she isnt crying and not even really fussing, she usually just rolls right onto her belly and props herself up and talks.
I never thought I would say this but I cant wait for her to crawl!!! She was up at 445 again this morning! Ugh!

Thanks for letting me know this is 'normal'. I was hoping it wasnt her trying to drop a nap because I am NOT ready to only do 1 nap a day!

It sounds like what my girls were doing around that age. I wanted to add that it was a phase for us and they went back to two naps. It happened again around 10 months and then around 12.
