Name Help!

DH and I have started the name discussion. I really want a name that goes well with Abigail and Katherine. I like that they have formal names with nicknames (Abby & Kate). My top 3 name choices are Grace Elizabeth, Madeline Elizabeth and Olivia Rose. I really want to name her Grace, but DH does not like the name. If he would just change his mind!

You ladies always have such wonderful ideas...do you have any suggestions? TIA.

 

I like Madeline Elizabeth, it's really cute. What if you changed it to Elizabeth Grace, then you can call her Libby for a nickname.

 

I'm impressed you have names picke out... we are still just trying to find ones that we like.

I like maureen's idea about Elizabeth/Libby. And, I think Libby would work for a nickname with Olivia as well. And I think a lot of the time, the wife wins on the name thing, so don't give out on Grace yet.

I like all three of your possibilities!! your other two girls have longer names with nickname potential...so that does make me lean in favor of the last two choices, or the choice of elizabeth grace....just to keep it kind of matched with the other girls. But I think grace is a beautiful name too. Nice choices no matter what you go with!

 

Thanks for the replies ladies. I forgot to mention that we used family names as middle names for Abby & Kate. Marie is MIL's middle name and Ann is my mom's middle name. Elizabeth is my middle name, so we thought that would be a good possibility. Rose was my grandmother's middle name.

Elizabeth is also pretty high on my list for a first name. However, we can't call her "Libby" because it is my parents' dog's name! I would want to call her Ellie, but that is not a traditional nickname for Elizabeth. Do you think that would cause problems? I am not a fan of Lizzie or Beth (although DH does like Beth).

What do you think?

 

How about Madeline Rose? I love Maddy as a nickname and Rose since it is your Grandmothers middle name?

 

I think you could definitely use Ellie for a nickname for Elizabeth (which is also my middle name and Meghan's, my mom's first name). We have a friend that is Elisa that is nicknamed Ellie.

 

HOw about Olivia Grace? This way you get your Grace in there. I love Olivia. I would have called her Livi or Liv. Alas, DH didn't like it

 

I like all of your choices...theya re beautiful. Our top two picks right now for our girl is Abigail or Olivia..lol! I like Olivia and we would probably call her Livi for awhile...who knows. Neither of the girls have names that will be turned into nicknames, so I'm half tempted to just go with Olivia with NO nickname. Who knows. We argue about middle names and aqren't dead set on either one of the first names. We have awhile

My first name is Elizabeth and i get called Izzy or Lizard by family only... friends call me Elizabeth... i wasnt a fan EVER of Liz... i tried to go by Beth... but people would start... Eliza....um... BETH
But i do like all the names you have picked...

DH asked me what I want for Christmas and I told him something that wouldn't cost any money...I want him to give up naming rights!!!!! :rotflmbo:

Ohhh that’s a good one :clapping: … my Dh and I are having “issues” on the name I picked… though I over heard him tell a friend he doesn’t think he gonna get me to change my mind :spiteful: … but I hope you don’t mind I’m gonna us that line… ohhh that is good!!!!

 

I work with an Elizabeth who goes by Eli. I had never thought of that as a nickname, but it works.

 

I think Olivia Rose is really pretty. x
