Name for our 3rd son?

We are expecting our 3rd son in November . Sadly, my brother passed away unexpectedly in May and we have agreed to use his name, Eric, as a middle name. Problem is, it's not the easiest to match with.
I love the name Evan (DH likes it). But, is Evan Eric too weird? DH thinks so and I can't fully warm up to it.
Other names I really like are Chase, Nathan (DH loves this and although I do too, it's a good friend's husband's name, so I don't know), I like Gavin (not love), DH likes Nolan, I like Noah but it's too popular for me.....
We have thrown around some others as well.
Let me know your thoughts and if you think of anything that sounds really nice with Eric.
Only restrictions are no B or O names or anything too popular.

I think all the names you have chosen are nice and go fine with the middle name Eric.
I am sorry about the loss of your brother BTW, how nice of you to honor him with giving your son his name. :hug:

 

Of the names you posted I think I like Gavin Eric best. I like Nathan but I know way too many Nathans and that always clouds my opinion. Nolan Eric is nice too.

You can always use Nathaniel instead of Nathan. Nathaniel Eric sounds fine, but I am partial to Nathaniel. Boys names are so hard! Joshua is nice, and I like the previous suggestion of Liam. Good luck!

 

I've actually been trying to find a middle name for Jude. Jude Eric sounds good. I also like Keith Eric.

Eric does seem to throw off the cadance as a middle name. Have you thought about putting it first? You can still call your son by the other name you choose, I know plenty of people who go by their middle name.

For example I think Eric Nolan sounds really nice.

Thank you, too, for the name suggestions. I like many that you've offered... Nathaniel, Liam, Dylan, Collin, Joshua, Justin, etc. The problem is, I keep coming back to my very favorites. DH is just not hot on Chase and I know that won't change. You can't make yourself like something. Our mutual favorite is Nathan. I mentioned that it is the name of a husband of a good friend of mine (we were closer growing up than we are now). But, I think I'm past that. I do agree that if you really, really love a name and will be calling a child that name every day for life, you should use it. So, as of today, I think it will be Nathan Eric. I think the combo goes well, too; better than Evan Eric. Evan is definitely my other fav, but I think it has to be Evan or Eric. I know we could use Eric as the first name and call him by his middle name. But, I'd prefer to call him by his given first name.

We still have about 13-14 weeks til the c-sec (hopefully!), so who knows what will change ;-). Thanks again!
