Meara says dada or daddy for a lot of things- including daddy! Da is now something she says when you give her something new to play with so I think it means "That." In her repetoire are also such favorites as Uh Oh and Ow! She used to say mamama but it was just sound, not me. So this weekend I was working with her to say mama. She'd say 'Dada' and I'd say 'Not dada. Mama!" So now she calls me "Na Dada!" DH thinks this is hysterical!

    -"Na Dada!"

That's awesome. I think you not only have a word, but a two-word phrase!

Porter's current favorite word is "bomb!" I have no idea yet what he means (I think maybe bar, as in cereal bar), but I told him he better be careful not to talk like that on an airplane. Maybe DH has him watching MTV while I'm away at work, and he's trying to tell me he thinks I'm da bomb?!

How cute! I was recently told by a doctor/friend that if you understand what they mean, it counts as a word!

Sure it counts! Emilie for some reason a few months ago started calling me "daddy", but this is already after she was saying mommy. :unknw: But now she does call me "mommy" again. :)

A word is counted when a utterence is consistant for sound and meaning. For example, the boys used to say "gik" when they wanted milk, so that counted as a word.

Leighann that is too funny. At least they address you, at that age mine only said Dada and Mama didn't come till much much later.

Well Meara does at least. And this new 'word' has stuck. I picked them up from the sitter today and she walked up to me, I picked her up and she said very clearly "Na Dada!"

She is definitely more vocal, but Ana will occassionally say "MAAAAHHHMAAAHHHH" when she is upset and really needs me. She sounds just like Cartman from South Park.
