I havent seen anyone share they're ultrasound yet so i dont know if its a no no or not, but anyways heres my twins. I see alot of ultrasounds of people with twins in two different bubbles mine are in one. Can anyone shed some light on what makes them different, i have another ultrasound to get a better look at the barrier between them.

From what I hear if your babies are in the same sac, then that means that they are identical. My twins are in separate sacs and have separate placenta's. Last I heard they are b/g twins. That makes it certain that they are fraternal. If they are the same genders and are in separate sacs they can still be identical, but have a greater chance of being fraternal. Hope this helps some. Sorry I couldn't be more help. I am new with the twin thing. Mine are the first in our family. There are lots of other posters on here that can give you better info! BTW... congrats on your twins!!!

Congrats! You can certainly share u/s pictures here. :) Yep, one sac means ID. Not sure if it's too early to determine that now or not.

For some reason I couldn't open the ultra sound photo- but mine are in the same sak split by membrane.
I am told they are identical girls. I wish I could of seen your ultra sound photo. Sorry, I have an Apple Mac
computer and sometimes they are not compatible to trying to open things up.

Twins in the same sac are definately identical. Identical twins are either monochorionic, diamniotic ("mono/di") twins (99% of identical twins are these type). This means that they share a placenta but are in seperate amnion's (sac's). The other 1% are monochorionic, monoamniotic ("mono/mono") twins - shared placenta and 1 amnion sac. Your ultrasound isn't very clear but it will be the reason you are going for the next ultrasound to see if they can see any dividing membrane and make a diagnoses of mono/di or mono/mono.

Without alarming you Mono/mono twins are a higher risk pregnancy - http://www.monoamniotic.org is a great support. If you google monochorionic, monoamniotic you will get out of date figures - the website above is the best source of information. There is a huge misdiagnoses rate so even a membrane can't be found at your next appointment it doesn't mean it's not there.

    Wishing you luck

From the US it looks like there is a little line between them. If it is there it's definitely not a thick one though. Most likely they are identical. Hopefully they will confirm that they are in different sacs so it's not as high risk. Let us know how the next US goes. How long do you have to wait?

They are also very seperate - the babies aren't overlying or touching each other which is a good sign they are in different sacs. A high resolution ultrasound will hopefully pick up the membrane.

It looks like one of my early u/s pics (my boys are identical.) I'm not sure what you know about identicals, but it occurs when one egg is fertilized by one sperm and then splits. Because my twins shared a placenta I was monitored more closely to make sure they didn't develop twin to twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). They also did an u/s for me at almost 9 weeks to find the separating membrane. It almost appears visible in your u/s picture. Congratulations on twins and welcome to twin stuff!
