Yeah!!!!!! :yahoo: I am so happy and tired ofcourse
A few days before they were born, I was reading a post and the lady delivered twins vaginally without pain meds because she was fully dilated. While reading it, I thought, that can never happen to me. :80: I will either have a C section or have time for epidural. But life isnt always that perfect.
I was supposed to be induced on Sep 19th. My boys were born on Sep 13th. I was on Nifedipine since week 20 and stopped taking it when I hit 37 weeks (Sep 11th). The next day I was contracting pretty regularly. My NST nurse told me that I was in labor. This was Sep 12th evening. On Sep 13th, my water broke at 8am. I reached the hospital at 9:30am. The ride to the hospital was 30 minutes long and I was contracting every 2 min and in pain. When we reached the hospital, the nurse admitting me was taking her own sweet time (or so I thought at that time). Then came in a doc who checked my cervix and said I was 10cm and ready to go. WHAT :shok: ..........WAIT.........I needed an epidural. I took one when my daughter was born, and wasnt prepared to deliver all naturally. They shifted me to OT, and was put on the operating table. Ok that is such a torture when docs tell you to deliver naturally and place you on a hard table with no room. I have to admit while pushing out Twin A, I was really tempted to have a C-section, cz the pain was unbearable. When Twin A was born, the contractions slowed down and the doc said we might need to do a C-section for twin B. Well I wasnt going to let that happen. Thankfully the contractions picked up and Twin B was born after 50 minutes. I wasnt able to see either of them as they were whisked away by the neonatologists. Twin A was in the NICU for 2 days, Twin B went to the newborn nursery. Both were able to come home with us.
There sister fell in love   with them the moment we brought them home and now has to be near them always. She has a fit if she cant see one of them.
I am doing ok........had a few stitches. But developed fever 4 days after delivery. Turned out to be Ecoli infection in bladder and uterus. I am on antibiotics and will get better soon.
My boys were supposed to be Mono/di, but their placentas came out fused together, so now we are not sure if they are identical or fraternal. Let me know what you guys think.....
We named them Ruhaan: it means spiritual and Ritvik : it means scholar. The running joke now is if they will turn out to fit there names or be complete opposites.

    Twin A (Ruhaan) : 5lb 11 ounces
    Twin B (Ritvik) : 6lb 1ounce.

I have to thank all of you for so much support. Its incredible to have people who actually understand what mothers of multiples go through. Thank you.

Congrats!! I was in the same situation (too dilated for meds-even though I had hoped for a natural delivery it came as a shock when they said it was too late!), but isn't it amazing that about 15 minutes after it's over, you seem to forget the pain completely? I went from wondering why the heck anyone would ever do this to thinking, *hey, I could do this again* in a matter of minutes. Feel better soon and enjoy those little bundles...mine aren't even 3 months and they've already changed so much!

They are so handsome!!! My guess is ID, but be sure to post some more pictures in the coming months. It's always fun to play the Id/Frat game. Congrats to your whole family. We found out after they were born that their placentas were fused too! So now we are doing a DNA test.

What a great birth story- amazing! Congratulations on your babies- they are just beautiful. Definitely post more pictures and we'll play the id/frat game- we have some real experts on this board! I always vote ID, but I'm not always right! IvfBound always guesses correctly so maybe she'll take a peek! :)

Congratulations Momma!! WTG delivering them without any meds!! They are absolutely gorgeous, and I can't believe how much hair they have!! As for being Identical or Fraternal, they look a lot alike to me but I think all newborn twins look alike, so maybe I am no help! Welcome to the 1st year!!

Congratulations, your babies are so sweet.

I ran across this article about twins. It's interesting. It shows that mono/di twins have two placentas, they are either seperate or fused.

This is absolutey AMAZING to me. I read these ALL like 3 times each. I thought about the TWO PLACENTAS for mono-di twins and I'm stunned. How is that possible??? I do not understand. I think I am going to have to call my Perinatologist because this just doesn't make sense to me!! Obviously, I know it's true cuz of the articles but I am struggling in my mind to make sense of THAT. How would that even happen??? Can someone explain that to me??

That is just amazing. No one ever said that was a possibility to me. I did have ONE PLACENTA with my mono-di boys and never even heard about the possibility of having two.

Unreal and totally fascinating. Thanks sooo much for the info!
