My twins are here

Quick birth story before the babies wake up. I woke up at midnight on Wednesday (12/12) with horrible back pains. I started having contractions and by 3am they were coming every 5 minutes and hurt SO BAD...so we went to the hospital. I was 35 weeks, 5 days...and I was scared the babies were not going to be ready, so I was hoping they would stop the contractions and send me home. At 6am they sent me to labor and delivery, and I was only 3-4cm but they gave me an epidural to help with the pain. Well by 9am my contactions had slowed to every 10 minutes and I had stalled....so the ob (not mine, one of her partners) thought about taking out my epidural and sending me home. She called my ob and my ob said, no way, those babies will get distressed...they are coming out today. I had the option of vaginal or c-section, but the vaginal delivery had ALOT of "what if's" because baby B was breech, so I opted for the safer c-section. They were ready for me within an hour and Grace Carolyn was born at 12:14pm at 5lbs 2 oz 17.5 inches and Christopher Alan was born at 12:15pm at 5 lbs 7 oz 18 inches. Grace was taken to the NICU for two days because she inhaled fluid and blood on her way out, but both came home with us on Saturday. They are so tiny and perfect...it's unbelievable!

Good luck to you all still pregnant...it's worth the wait and the aches and pains!
