Yesterday we had our weekly doppler and things are still looking stable (24w5d). The sonographer did however notice that the placenta on little Baby A's side was looking pretty sickly - it was very obvious compared to her sister's which was smooth and nice-looking. We also have a complete previa and a velamentous cord.

The peri came in (one we hadn't seen before) and said that while things are fairly stable, mono-di twins are "a different animal" and that he would feel more comfortable about our situation if we were admitted to the hospital for constant monitoring.

This floored us because last week (different doctor) we got "keep doing what you're doing and come back every week for dopplers/growth scans!" and she didn't think steroid shots were necessary yet at this point.

This doctor said that he may be on the conservative side but he wants what's best for our babies. He did say that I didn't have to come in until Saturday so on Friday I went to work and tried to wrap stuff up. How the heck can I go from NO bedrest to complete hospital bedrest with nothing being more wrong than it was yesterday or last week!?

I have a 16 month old at home and my DH is going to be on his own...it's going to be so hard.

We're leaving in about an hour to go to the hospital. I'm so nervous about this whole thing.

This is not the hospital we had planned to go to but it's the best one. If I make it there until 28 weeks then they might send me home and I can deliver at my preferred hospital where they'll be more comfortable caring for babies at that gestation versus this extremely early gestation.

Anyway, wish me luck. I'm going to miss my daughter like crazy. :(

I was hospitalized from Jan 26th - Feb 14th (with a brief at home stay of 3 days before being readmitted). I missed my son so bad it hurt but I know it helped keep my girls in and healthy. It IS hard but you will get GREAT care. I'm at home now with my MIL caring for me and my 4 year old son. I literally only stand up to go to the bathroom.

Thanks everyone. It's tough!! I'm admitted now and my husband and daughter just left so I'm all alone. The plan right now is to monitor me twice a day and then go from there. I will have an ultrasound tomorrow or the next day and then we'll see from there. I have a TV, DVD player, laptop, Nintendo DS, cross-stitching and books so at least I have something to do. :)

Best of luck Beckylynn. I have been following your story and I am sure you have been following mine. We are very nearly at 29 weeks, and I really hope your little ones can get to this point as well. Twin A has always had absent end flow since 20 weeks but he is still growing.
Keep crossing those days and weeks off! I really hope you are able to get to the 'big one' - 28 weeks!

I am sorry you have to be away from your little girl. I hope you visit the bedrest forum. I know those gals over there are a great source of information and support. I am happy that you will be monitored so you can cook those babies as long as possible. Hugs and strength to you!
