HERE is a post I made in the HI Forum abt some new TTTS procedures being done. Should it be there in the main forum or in the TTTS Sticky?

Christa, I would say that if you think it's important enough that people diagnosed with TTTS should see it, then go ahead and put it in the sticky. I know next to nothing about TTTS, except what I've learned here on TS.

    Anyone else care to comment?

I will wait to see if anyone else weighs in on this before moving it. I don't know alot abt TTTS either, but this sounds pretty significant. Maybe someone with ID's that had TTTS can tell us more...

I think since it IS abt TTTS, I will just go ahead and put it in the TTTS sticky since no one else has weighed in on it...it can always be moved back to the main HI forum later if need be.

    Hi Krista,

Thanks for adding the post to the sticky. I think that is a good place for it. I didn't comment earlier because, although it is new in the Utah hospital, this is the same laser surgery that Eric refers to in the original TTTS thread. It was pioneered by the Dr Quintero that Eric and his wife saw for their twins TTTS.

It is a newly available type of surgery at St Mark's, but not actually a brand new treatment.

I still really appreciate your posting the link to the story and raising awareness about it. As was stated in the article, before the new team got set up in Utah, patients had to travel to San Francisco (or elsewhere) for the surgery. When Eric wrote the TTTS essay, I think it was only available in 3 places...Tampa, Milwaukee and Los Angeles (anyne who knows better, please feel free to correct my statements). So, you've updated the information and that is very helpful! I keep forgetting about the need to do that with our stickies!

According to the article, the surgery is now available in at least 15 places in the country!! That's something that ought to be mentioned because that is a big improvement in just a few years! :clapping:

    SO, thank you!

NP. I knew that this was only being done in 15 hospitals, but I misunderstood the article...I thought it was a fairly new procedure and that it was ONLY being done in San Francisco.

It just AMAZES me what these Drs are able to do now! It is also amazing to see how science has changed so much and so quickly in the last few years!!
