my trip to L&D...34wks 6days

I went to my regular doctor's appointment, and during the ultrasound I started having regular contractions, they continued until I saw the doctor, and when she checked me I was 3cm, 70% effaced, which is a difference from Monday which was 2cm and completely thick. She told me to go straight to the hospital so they can stop the labor and monitor me. I went home first to get DH and off to the hospital we went. I was put on the monitors, and IV fluids and the contractions got stronger, and when they checked me I was 3-4cm, still 70% effaced. I was given a shot of terbutliline to stop the contractions and it didn't work. I was monitored more and finally admitted after being there 3hrs.

I got to my room and they were going to try me on another medicine to stop the contractions, they gave me a dose of procardia, they slowed the contractions and eventually stopped them but gave me a massive headache and when they checked me again no progress so I was able to go home...but on complete bedrest except for bathroom priviledges, their goal is to keep them in another week. I am taking meds at home to control the contractions they seem to be working but we will have to see how much longer I can keep these girls in.

My Dr will not stop labor after 34 weeks. What week is you Dr holding out for?

 

Our goal was 34 as well. Hang in there! The longer they are in there the better!

 

I dont get this either... our goal (DRs mostly) is 34 weeks... she has said more than once she will NOT stop labor after that point. Good luck... YOURE DOING GREAT!!!!

 

Mine said he wouldn't stop labor after 35 weeks, but had me taking the procardia i'd been on for 5 weeks religiously only as needed last week. Now I'm off, but he still wants me to take it easy and make it to 36 weeks. I guess they are all different. Hang in there, girl --- hopefully you can enjoy the downtime before they are here!!

they originally told me they wouldn't stop labor after 34 weeks as well, but I think they prefer 36 weeks which is what they are trying to get me too. I am hanging in there, thanks for the support ladies :hug:
