I went to my doctor last Wednesday (at 36 weeks) expecting him to schedule me for a c-section since I'm so misrable and just want the babies out. Victoria weighs 5.1 lb & Michael weighs 5.11 lb. So I really thought that they'd schedule me. No such luck... they want things to progress naturally. Now that Victoria flipped it looks as if I can deliver naturally. I'm terrified now! I was expecting a c-section basically all along since she's been breech & he's been transverse.

Anyway, Thursday & Friday morning I felt discomfort in my back on the right side. Also, nauseaed as well. I called the doctor Friday morning and they said it sounds like kidney so come into triage. I did. It is... a kidney infection. I thought COOL - they'll pull the babies now since Victoria has the renal pelvis dilatation (extra fluid in the kidney). NOPE, I have nothing to do with her kidneys.... what a bummer! So, I got released with 2 antibiotics and vicodin. Let me tell you, I've never had kidney problems or bladder issues. This is painful so I am relying on the vicodin even though it's killing me that I'm taking it.. I don't want anything happening to the babies.

The weekend was fine until about 4 AM this morning. I went into contractions (so I thought). They were every 5 minutes and by 5 AM they were 3 mins apart. My husband woke up at 6 AM and my contractions started slowing down until 6:30 AM - I haven't had any since then..... WTH??? I called the doctor and they just said to relax & put my feet up and drink plenty of water. It sounds like they started, stalled, and then stopped..... WHAT???????? Does that happen?? I'm glad that I didn't go to the hospital to be sent home.... I've never heard of that happening before. It didn't have anything to do with my kidney infection either... these pains were in the front and didn't stop if I changed position or tried anything different. My twin sister's first labor stopped for about an hour, but it started up again.... What I was feeling had to be contractions I just know it!! How frustrating... maybe tonight the real thing will happen for me (I hope!!!)

No great advice from me, but just wanted to say hang in there

Although the last couple weeks are incredibly frustrating & hard, the longer those babies are in there the better for them. Each day makes a big difference. They sound like they are progressing great though & have good estimated weights!! :good:

I hope you feel better & the med's work for you ~

Rent some movies or watch some really terrible (but awesome!) reality TV, drink lots o' water & enjoy these last few days

i hate to break it to you but some women can be in early labour with lots of starting & stopping for weeks before progressing to active labour. it's definitely a tough time! but as PP mentioned, every day those babies don't come is even better for them. they'll be here before you know it.

I am sorry you're so uncomfortable, I've been there ... with a lot of weight, but they're still preemies ... keep them in as long as you're able to, they'll benefit from it.

Thank you :grouphug: for the support! The end is in sight so it makes it easier! I went to the doctor on Wed. and I am now dilated to a 2, still 50% effaced, and -2 station. Haven't gained anymore weight. Still at 28 lbs & measure 44 weeks. The NST was normal also. It's hard for them to get a good reading on the babies at times. The doctor said that my skin is thin (being petite) and the waves bounce off each baby & my skin and don't pick up both heartbeats accurately. But, it's still good to know that when they get the heartbeats for a few minutes time that everything is ok. Victoria had hic-cups during the test.... it was sooooooo cute!!!!

The kidney infection is getting better so I'm taking less vicodin so that makes me happy. And now I just wait and see. I have another doctors appt on Wed the 20th & NST and then a schuduled induction on the 22nd. So, either the babies come on their own or on the 22nd.... the end is near so as I mentioned... it's easier to bear!

 I am so very sorry that you are so uncomfortable, but you are doing an excellent job giving those babies the best possible chance at life. It is so incredibly hard, but I can promise you that it is all worth it in the end when you get to hold your precious babies! Hang in there! Good Luck!

All I can say is that " I feel your pain! " I'm hoping that I can have my babies at 37 weeks because not only of all the pains and symptoms that we are experiencing but I am just flat out tired of even the scares and I would want my babies here. I asked my Dr. when do he think that we may start making plans for a delivery 36-37-38th week? and he replied what was my original due date before I even found out that I was having twins...which was July 13th..Noway he must be kidding if he's going to try to hold my babies hostage for 40 wks. 37 or 37 and a half looks pretty to me...But if he's stubborn I'll go 38...But at 36 & a half I am going to start walking like I've never walked before maybe even power walking (if it's safe for the babies) But I will do that to make them drop. Good Luck at least you will be having yours before me (look at it on the bright side).

I had the same thing with my twins. I went to the hospital 3 times with having consistent contractions every 3-4 min. Each time I had an appt earlier that day with a pelvic exam. When I got to the hospital I would be like 1 cm more dilated but the contractions were not doing anything. Finally the last time they just induced me at 36 weeks 5 days and I was 4.5 cm dilated.I was so annoyed because with my other two when I had contractions I was in labor. My dr told me it was because your uterus is so overstretched it takes more to dilate with contractions.Actually they started pitocin to induce me and after 3 hours I still didn't dilate any more but as soon as he broke me water I went from 4.5 to 10.I was supposed to have a c-section too but ended up with a vaginal delivery because both babies turned head down.It was the easiest of all 3 deliveries I have had.Don't worry!!!! Good luck!!!!
