This is a little late, but wanted to share...

Went to my 30ish wk appt last Thursday, and she did the NST as usual for almost an hour. OB didn't like the way my girl's heartrate was acting-it dropped in the 80's several times. So she sent me to hospital to be monitored for 3-4 hours. Everything seemed OK but still had lots of trouble keeping them on for long lengths of time. So then she ordered a BPP and boy scored 8/8 but girl got 6/8 cause she wasn't doing her breathing. Oh, and I also got 2 shots of terbutaline cause I was having lots of contractions too. So...I was admitted and had the monitors on all night and woken every 4 hrs for terbutaline...miserable!

Anyways, we had another BPP in the morning and everything was perfect, and got to come home! I also went in yesterday for my own peace of mind, and everything was fine [IMG] Still having lots of contractions, though not regular.

I'm starting to become really paranoid now that something can happen at any time. My OB doesn't see me making it past Jan to start with, and she says they'll be "fine" if they were born now. I know that long-term this is probably true, but I'm scared. I'm debating if I should beg for steroid shots when I go in on Thursday...she'll also do another FFN then.

    Thanks for "listening"

ps. Cervix had not changed at appt...still slightly soft, closed, 3.2mm (or is it cm?)

[IMG] I'm glad you were able to go home and things are looking better. You are in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about your scary appt. and hospital stay last week. I can completely relate. I spent WAY too much time in the hospital with mine. I don't understand why they didn't give you the steroid shots last week? I would definitely ask for them!!! Did she put you on bedrest or any oral terb for the contractions? Your cervix sounds like it's holding up great!

I too would be asking for the steroid shots at your next appt - I'm glad they did better the next day and you were able to come home - man how scary!!!

    Keeping you in our thoughts!

I'm glad things were better the next day. I agree about the shots.
30 wks is a great milestone. I remember breathing a HUGE sigh of relief when we got there, since we might have had to deliver at any time since 28 wks. YOu'd be in NICU for a long while, but with probably no long-term effects of prematurity.
Get those shots and keep cookin'!

That must have been a really scary experience, and I'm so glad it turned out so well. It really is nice to know that everything will be ok if your babies come now, but I hope you take it easy and the kids continue to do well! Keep us updated!

I'm glad things are improving for you and that your cervix is still closed and things look OK for now.

I agree with the pp's that asking for a steroid shot would be my course of action in your shoes. At least understanding your OB's perspective on them might help ease your mind somewhat, too -- like does she not think you need one because she's confident you're out of the woods or is she still planning on administering one later on or what?

Good luck with your Thursday appt!
