has been SO sick. We've been to the doc every day since Wednesday. We came home with an albuterol inhaler, then started prednisone yesterday. They tested her for RSV today, which was very unpleasant for her. I wish they did the swab, but now they do this water down the nasal cavity test. She sobbed the whole time. Thank Goodness it came back negative. Unfortunately this led to a diagnosis of chronic asthma. We go back next Tuesday to discuss what happens next. I'm at a total loss. I've never had a kid with real asthma. She isn't handling the steriods as well as I would like. I haven't slept in days. Annika keeps pulling her hair and biting her. Natty hasn't had the energy to fight back. It's so sad when they are this pitiful. I hate that useless feeling that comes with having a sick child. The minute we step foot into the hospital now, she starts saying, "bye-bye." On top of everything, the in-laws are coming to town. Dh has to pick them up tomorrow from the airport. Meanwhile, we are still dealing with snow and ice. We've missed two weeks of therapy due to the weather and we'll miss another day this coming week as I have to return the parents to the airport. Of course, Dh's command xmas party is the same day and I have to find some time to get a haircut (OMG, I might manage an hour away from all the chaos assuming I can find some place to fit me in.)
Okay... enough of my pity party. I promise to be more productive and less whiney next Friday!

Big hug to you - this must be so rough on you all. I hope she's feeling better very soon. I don't have any experience with asthma either, so I don't have any words of advice.

I'm sorry she's feeling so bad. Poor thing [IMG] Being sick (and having a sick baby) is just miserable. I hope she feels better and you get some sleep soon!

I have asthma and so does Jazz. She gets nebulizer treatments when we are at home and she needs it and liquid albuterol when we are out and about(I take singular and have a albuterol inhaler). If you have any questions feel free to ask!

We have asthma here too. My best advice is go see a specialist, and keep lots of meds on hand at home so you can start treating an attack early before it gets too bad. We have the following meds at the house

pulmicort - taken once a day, twince if sick
xopenex - taken as needed in an emergency
ora-pred - taken at the first sign of an attack to stop the inflammation
singulair - taken once a day
flonase - taken once a day
I also have a prescription of antibiotics for when we travel.

PM me if you have any questions.

I am so sorry you guys are having such a tough time with it all. It is so hard to see them have to go through that. My son had that nasal test too and I thought that was soo harsh! We haven't been given a diagnosis of asthma yet..I was told they won't diagnose asthma until they are at least 2 yrs old. We have been told we have reactive airway disease. So we are doing the inhalers too. We have flowvent and albuterol with the aerochamber, the neb with xoponex when he gets a cold and the pred also for colds. Its so much for them I feel sometimes, but I would think their bodies would get used to the steroids and make them not so crazy. My nurse told me that the inhaled steroids don't give them the same side effects as the liquid ones. I don't know that I have seen a difference just yet.

    good luck [IMG]
