My perfect little girls are here!

On Tuesday morning, July 10th, Eva Ruth and Sophia Ellen Shealy entered the world via scheduled C-section. We were 37w3d pregnant and Eva (baby A) was breech and Sophia was transverse. The C-section started on time and was uneventful as far as csections go!

At 752am Eva entered the world bleating like a baby sheep! It was such a wonderful sound to hear! I didn’t even get one quick peek before Sophia was pulled out feet first at 753am; also sounding like a bleating baby sheep! They both sounded so sweet; not big hearty screams, but enough that I was reassured that they were okay! I got a quick peek at Sophia right away, and she was beautiful to me! My husband snapped photos and gave me the play by play as they started working on the girls. He exclaimed right away that they were both bigger than our last singleton (who was 6lbs.11oz) even though they hadn’t been weighed yet. He was so proud; he kept talking about how big they were! I finally got to “hold” them for a minute in the OR before they were taken to the nursery.

While my docs worked on me, Daddy went to the nursery with the girls. A few minutes later our pediatrician stuck his head in the OR and said that the girls looked great! Eva was 6lbs. 11oz and 19 inches long, and Sophia was 6lbs 15oz and 19 inches long! I was so proud! The pregnancy had gone so beautifully and there I was making it to a scheduled date having such big healthy girls! I really feel so blessed. Everyone in the hospital, throughout our stay, was so impressed with the girls’ weights and that they had never seen me in the hospital for anything prior to their birth. It made me feel so good!

The girls are doing great and nursing very well. We go in on Friday for a weight check, so hopefully that will prove all is well. The C-section hasn’t been so terrible. Like everyone says, stay on top of the medicine. Also, for me the worst started around 48 hours post surgery and lasted throughout that day (early Thursday morning through Thursday), so I guess what you would call the 3rd day was the absolute worst. I am feeling much better now, still sore, but the hardest part at this point is not being able to pick up my 16 month old.

I've been checking here and there to see if you'd had the girls yet. Congratulations...they are beautiful! And you delivered at basically the same gestation as me (I was induced at 37 wks. 3 days...they were born the next day). I'm glad to hear everything went smoothly and is still going smoothly. Rest, rest, rest.

Congratulations and good luck....i am two weeks into it............it has its moments that are tough but we are taking it slowly and enjoying it all.
