My little scare yesterday

I so did not feel good yesterday. I took a shower yesterday morning after having breakfast with the girls and was fine going in. By the time I got out of the shower I was lightheaded, had shortness of breath and was numb in my hands. I get out of the bathroom and called my DH. He told me to lay on the couch and called me back in five minutes but I still felt really warm, lightheaded and not able to breath that easily. I called the OB since it didn't seem to be going away and I was told to come in.

They checked my BP (which was 120/70) and my sugar level (118) and my blood count. My blood count was a little low (33.5). They watch me extra close since I have a history of seizures and I had pre-eclampsia with the girls. So, they were happy when my BP and sugars came back ok. They did put me on iron supplements in addition to my regular prenatals to bring up my iron levels.

They also just stressed taking a cool shower, getting up and down slowly, trying to relax and making sure that I eat 6 small meals a day instead of three. They also said that sometimes during pregnancy you can get something like a hot flash since your hormones are out of whack - but I never experienced this with the girls.

Afterwards I was really tired and my arms felt like they weighed 100 pounds each. After a good sleep I felt better but I'm still tired today. So, anyway, everything is fine. I just have to take better care of myself.

I've come very close to passing out in my first two pgs....this one I've just been much better at seeing it before it hits hard, then helping to avoid it. For me it's always been blood sugar related...too low I guess b/c usually a quick snack will bring me out of it...especially fruit or juice. I've heard that the baby can press on your arteries or nerves suddenly and it can cause a similar phenomenon...in any case hopefully it doesn't happen again!

Funny thing is I never even though of eating or having OJ when I was feeling so sick. I had eaten waffles before I took my shower so i thought that I was ok. But, the OB also said that if I eat carbs I should have protein with them.

I really hope that I don't get this again. It scared the cr@p out of me.

I'm glad everything is ok. After about 30 weeks on with the twins, I was constantly light headed and feeling like I was gong to pass out. I even did pass out while in the waiting room at the OB office waiting for an u/s one time. UGH!

I hope you are able to take it easy a bit and I hope you feel better soon. Glad you went and got checked out.

Michelle, I am glad everything is okay!

Around my 25th week I also had a few of those spells! Now, I am having them again. This mornings was so bad I just knew I was going to have to run to the bathroom and puke... it was awful!
