My little guy is sick and I don't know what to do. He had a 101.3 temp and after tylenol it went down to 100 - now the termomoter says 99, but I don't know how accurate it is.

He is so stuffy and keeps waking up (which he never does). I am so nervous about tonight and him sleeping. What do you do at night when you kids are sick?

So sorry to hear your little guy is sick :-( . Its a scary thing.

When my daughter has been sick (shes had a couple colds and a fever), I've raised her crib mattress up on a slight slope, to help her breathe a little easier. We have elevated crib pads that I bought at Babies R Us a while ago ($15 each I think), but when we were on holiday recently, I just used some small baby sized blankets and put them under the mattess. I made sure there wasn't too much of a slope, as I didn't want her to go sliding, but just a slight one to keep her head up a little.

I also cleared her nose out regularly in the day time with the good old "booger sucker" and saline drops. I only did that at night though if she was having trouble breathing and awake already, otherwise it can be a rude awakening.

I was also told to do Tylenol every 4 hours for the fever, and any pain that may be associated with the cold (such as sore throat, not that the baby is going to tell you).

I recently bought a $20 Vicks cold mist humidifier (pediatric version, although I don't know what the difference is) for my daughter's room. I've noticed a significant improvement in her breathing, and less "stuff" comes out of her nose in the day time.

Hope your little dude feels better soon! Not much you can do really, just check up on him regularly, and maybe put him in your room in a pack n play for the night so you can keep an eye on him.

When ours had their first cold, we did everything as normal at night, but we gave them some tylenol before bed, and some nasal congestion meds (which I don"t think they prescribe in the US), put some menthyl smelling oil on a tissue under their bed (suppose to help with breathing and congestion). Our babies actually slept ok during their bad colds, rarely got up at all - but we did get up a couple of times and check on them - checked their forehead and back of their neck with our hands to check their temperature.
So, it may not be as bad as you think! I was scared of our first cold/sickness but we made it through and you will too!

We give them a nice warm bathe so the steam can open their nasal passages. we also take them into the bathroom while we shower so they can get the steam from that as well.
We use saline nose drops and a booger sucker as much as needed. We bought Vicks baby rub and rubbed on their chest. We took a pillow and placed under the crib mattress to put it at a slope. We also used a humidifier and one of the vicks wall plugs in near their cribs.

I can remember a time or two where a baby slept in his/her catseat or the swing as it was the only way they could breathe. good luck mama and watch that fever! if in doubt call the nurses line...

My boys are just getting over a bad cold right now. The were waking up at night because of it. Normally I would let them cry a little if they woke up but when they are sick I go in nd rock them in my arms and give them tylenol if needed. Sorry he's sick :(

If the fever stays at 100 or up you should call the pedi. Make sure to hydrrate em. We run a humidifier and keep the house dimmer so they tens to nap more. My fave saying when they are sick "this too shall pass"
