The boys asked me this morning while I was getting ready where we were going and I reminded them that they had a doctor's appointment to get their flu shot. I asked who was ready to get a poke and they squealed and jumped up and down saying, "Me first, me first! Poke in the leg!" When we got there, Trent did volunteer Trevor to go first and wasn't so sure he wanted to flip a coin but they took the shot like champs and were very excited to get a blue bandage and a sticker. I had to help every time they went to the bathroom for the rest of the day so they didn't bump the sore spot but by bathtime when we removed the bandage, they decided it was all better (even though I'm sure it's still sore). Crazy boys.

    Awww Too cute!

My kids are weird like that... they can't wait to get "really really sick" so they can go to the hospital in an ambulance.

For some reason, I don't think ours will go that well tomorrow. But I might bribe them with candy. "Me first!" I can't even imagine my girls doing that.

Listen, here's what you girls ahve to do-you hve to take the credit for being such amazing Moms that you have really secure kids who aren't scared of anything! LOL!
Owen is scared poop-less of the Doctor, and he's 8! How on Earth did you get your little ones to be so ok with it!? I'm impressed as all get out!

I don't know if it made a difference or not but I pull no punches. I tell them ahead of time what will happen so there are no surprises. Right after their 1st birthday, they were really upset and worked up over getting their shot but I focused on the prize (sticker) afterward and reassured them that it's "no big deal" and only hurts a little. At 2, I took them along to see their grandparents and me get our shots BEFORE they got their shots and then it was "only doing something that the rest of us already did" and they decided it wasn't a big deal. This year, they were all ready to go. I keep waiting for them to suddenly become fearful about something but they don't seem prone to fear (which isn't as great as it sounds...)
