There, that's a nice subject line, isn't it?

I recently posted about my problem with anemia (THanks all for the suggestions - I'm going to buy the Flintstones gummies!).

Well, my doctor gave me a scrip for something called chromagen, and a sample of Repliva, an iron supplement.

Soooooo, I went out to pick them up yesterday (and, pathetically, ALL I could do all day was go to the doctor, eat some lunch out because I was RAVENOUS, do some minor food shopping, then I had to come home and nap immediately for two hours. So much for putting up that pot of soup!

At around 5:30 I ate the other half of my lunch hamburger (anyone else notice meals getting smaller and smaller as the babies get bigger?), and then took the pills. I thought it was odd that they were both this deep red color, like oxblood shoes. For a moment I considered calling the service and having my doc call me back but then figured that if i weren't supposed to take them both, my OB would have told me.

Fast forward two hours; DH and I were actually watching a movie (overdue at Blockbusters, of course!), and i started feeling AWFUL.

Baby B was positioned high and for the first time i felt either an elbow or a knee, but i was getting more and more sick. I was leaning into the cushins just WHIMPERING,with tears leaking out of my eyes. Finally I felt that old familiar urge and jumped up (good thng there's a bathroom in the basement, where the tv is!) p and threw up the entire contents of my stomach with such force that I was left gasping. (didn't help that i of course peed on the floor simultaneously.)

After, DH, who is very worried about me, kept trying to push gatorade to rebalance my electrolytes or bi-carb to neutralize the acid on me, and I kept telling him that given the amount of acid coursing through my GI tract , there was no way I could keep it down. Finally I had him call the service and my doc called me back. She of course said that I was ok, if i couldn't keep anything down the next day to call, but that i wasn't going to get out of whack just yet, and to keep eating ice chips (I eat ice like it's going out of style!) and drink what I can.

Of course, I have been awake EVERY HOUR on the hour since I went to sleep, and here i am, listening to the freezing rain fall. At least i know i won't be driving anywhere today.

Oh, dear. That sounds like one of those moments you have to remind yourself of what a wonderful reward you will get for all of this. Stay strong.

Yikes. I accidentally dropped an iron pill in some lemonade during this pregnancy and that last sip with the dissolved iron pill was so awful I was just shivering in disgust for several minutes. Can't imagine if it was mixed with...other stuff.
