Just wanted to pop on quickly and let you girls know that my boys were born by planned c-section on March 17th 2008 at 8:40 and 8:41 am. (37.5 weeks) Jackson David was born first weighing in at 8 pounds 2 ounces followed by Benjamin James at 7 pounds 14 ounces. BIG!!!!
Hopefully you can see pictures at this link to my facebook album:

For those of you considering the repeat section, I highly recommend it!! SO routine and calm - kind of like going to the dentist... :) My recovery was going awesome, I had very little pain and was really feeling great after about a week.

A week after they were born I unfortunately suffered a major post-partum hemorrhage caused by an infection that nearly cost me my life - I almost died during a D&C surgery! My entire blood volume was replaced by transfusions. I plan to donate blood as soon as i am allowed to and I want to thank everyone out there who has ever donated. Everything is much better now, I'm recovering well but struggling with breastfeeding. I guess when you almost bleed to death your body decides that breastmilk is not a priority! I pumped while I was in the hospital but even so, now I am struggling to pump 4 ounces every two hours and the boys are eating 6 ounces at a feeding. Not sure how long I will continue with this but every day that they get BM is good for them.

They are AMAZING babies - eating every three hours and pretty much sleeping the rest of the time. THey are so good and I am so grateful to be here with them.

THanks for all your support and advice over the last few months - see you on the FY board!!

    Angela

Congratulations! Those are wonderful weights and I'm glad the boys are doing well. Was the hemmorage related to an infection from your c-section? I'm so glad you're okay!

Don't be too discouraged with your pumping. Like you said, getting the boys any breastmilk is great, even if it is just at every other feeding. I only pumped enough for one baby at each feeding so my girls had to alternate who got breastmilk and who got formula but you could tell from their growth and health that the 1/2 diet of breastmilk really made a difference. It was totally worth it. Congrats again!

    hey there,
I am glad and happy , you are ok now! btw one quick question, what did u do during your pregnancy to ensure they were born at the weights they were. ? I am a vegetarian, 5'6 in height started my preg at 168 and now i am 181lbs. I will be glad for any inputs and anything i can do. I am 20 weeks as of now.

They are fabulous!!! What great sizes! Mine were big too, 6.10 & 7.13, and I can say that it was a relief becuase so often we hear of twins being so tiny it is truly a blessing to have such good sized babies! Congratulations!

What a scary ordeal you went through though. I hope that everything is going much more calmly for you now. I think because c-sections are so routine we don't often think of the risks, thankfully you are here to celebrate your babies births!

Congratulations and enjoy your babies! Your big firl looks so proud in the pictures! Kids are funny, my daughter wouldn't let us take a picture of her with the babies until they were about a week old! Twins are fun and even though having an older child to care for at the same time can be tough I can tell you that it really is great to see them interact with the babies as they grow and learn a new big sister role!
