My heart stopped today.

So, we were having a wonderful time at the farm today. Saw animals, took tractor rides, played in a pumpkin patch. We were about 10 minutes from leaving when Mackenzie, who was standing on a giant wodden tractor, fell off of it. I saw DH grab for her, but I thought he as shooing away a bee (they were all over the place). But then I saw her go voer with the corner of my eye. It was about a 4 foot fall. I screamed, "Oh my god, oh my god!" and ran around the side. I found her face down, and crying. I don't know how I didn't start crying myself. I checked her over, and aside from some teeny tiny scratches, and dirt, she was unharmed. I was worried about a concussion, and she did fall asleep on the ride home, but she seems fine.

What had me really worried was that she didn't even want any ice cream from the farm. She told me that we have ice cream at home.

It could have been so much worse. A man came over to see if she was okay and told us then when his daughter was three months old, his MIL dropped her and the baby got a skull fracture. I can't imagine.

    Well, thanks for listening.

OMG!!! So freakin scary!!! This is why I am so paranoid with everything. I always imagine the worst possible thing that could happen and even when something does happen and they are ok, I spend the next few days thinking about what COULD have happened. These kids are so darn resilient I tell ya.

btw...very funny about the ice-cream. wouldn't it be nice if that worked later in life? "oh look, there's a really cool outfit." "no thanks mom, i got some cool outfits at home already." YEA RIGHT!! Dream on.

I'm sure that was very scary! I'm glad that she wasn't hurt, though. It's amazing how quick these things can happen, and how helpless we are at preventing EVERYTHING. When Cate was 2.5, she fell & hit her eye on a ride at a pizza place. There were 4 adults standing less than 4 ft from her, but it still happened.

It sounds like other than the fall, your family had a great day. I would probably be ready to go home after a fall, too. Hopefully she'll be ready to go back soon!

I got all choked up just reading that account! I'm so glad she was OK. I'd chalk up the ice cream thing to toddler weirdness, or something she heard from you or another adult. In any other situation, you'd probably have thought that was the cutest thing ever to say!

Was this at White Post Farms? My kids love that place.

Thanks everybody. She is perfectly fine now, with the exception of tiny dot scratches and a faint bruise. Just picturing her face down in the dirt brings tears to my eyes.

I', sure she got the "We have ice cream at home line" from me. I've said it a thousand times whenever the ice cream truck has come around. She actually wanted to stop the truck yesterday evening when it came by the house, but since we had already gotten Peyton ice cream when Kenze didn't want it, I told them daddy would bring home a special treat. Then I called him at work and asked him to stop at Pathmark for some halloween peeps. Happiness all around.

BTW Betsy, it actually was White Post. I figured we'd go before the price got jacked up another 4 dollars for the Fall Festival. Luckily we had two BOGO free coupons from the entertainment book. It is very nice there. Peyton made me take her picture in front of every Spongebob cut-out they had in the sand box. LOL.

LOL! My girls are in love with Dora's Map and head right back there. Dora's OK but man, her accessories rock!

I live about 2 miles from White Post. Is it already Fall Festival time? I am in such deep deep denial that summer is over!
