My girls are here!

Just wanted to post that I had my girls. My water broke at 5am on August 21st, called my husband at work to bring me to hospital. Finally arrived at hospital at 6:30am after a long ride and having contractions 3 minuted apart. Nurse checked me and I was fully dilated !! Rushed to OR with nurses asking me if I wanted to try natural or c-section. I think the decision was made for me because before I knew it the doctor was asking me to push. Abigail (Twin A) was vertex and was born at 7:31am and Taylor was born by breach extraction at 7:34am. Abigail weighed 4lbs 11oz and Taylor weighed 3lbs 12 oz. Both were intubated shortly after birth but by the time they let me see my girls (4 hours later) Abigail was already extubated and breathing room air. Taylor was extubated at same time as Abigail, but needed CPAP for 48 hours (Neonatologist said Taylor's RDS was due to her smaller size). 6 days in the NICU and another week in Special Care for Abigail who is now home. 6 days in NICU and another two weeks in Special Care for Taylor. Taylor will be home tomorrow (she needed another week of feeding and growing)!! Both are healthy baby girls!! Thank you all for your help and great advice!! Good Luck to all the expecting mothers and if your twins are presenting like mine and your doctor feels comfortable delivering your twins naturally with breach extraction of smaller second twin, go for it!

So glad I was able to do this and it worked out!

So glad everyone is doing so well.

 

Congrats on the birth of your daughters! My girls were also born at 34 weeks 2 days, with very similar weights (4lbs 9 oz and 3 lbs 11 oz). Good luck over the next few months... the time will fly and all of a sudden, your girls will be toddlers and running all over the place!
