    [SIZE=12pt]Hi Everyone
    I just wanted to share our happy news --

    Katharine Elizabeth 6lbs. 2oz. 18" and Monique Ann 6lbs. 1oz. 18 1/4" graced us with their presence Thursday, July 31 @ 10:31pm & 10:33pm, respectively.

    I was scheduled for a c-section on Friday but about 5:45 Thursday evening I started having contractions that didn't seem to change when I changed position. I was lying down trying to rest up for my Friday procedure and these strong contractions started coming pretty regularly but not obviously so. DH wanted me to call my OB when I had the first sort of strong contraction but this was only the second pregnancy he has experienced and the first was a scheduled c-section. This was my fourth and I knew I needed more than just one strong contraction to tell my OB about. So after an hour of contractions about 15 mins. apart I call my OB who says "Come in now. We're not going to take any chances with this b/c they're twins."

    This was not really what I was expecting him to say. We weren't really ready for it because I didn't have anyone lined up to watch my boys in an emergency. Thank goodness I had an old neighbor who was willing to come over at the last minute. Off we go to the Hospital and I'm now truly feeling like I'm in labor . . . the contractions are even more regular and becoming more intense, fortunately not terribly painful. We get to the hospital and they have my preregistration information about my DH wrong so it takes us far longer to get up to labor and delivery than expected so much so my OB called my house again to make sure I was on my way. LOL Finally get the information taken care of for admissions and up to L&D we go. I'm taken into an L&D room and hooked up to the monitors and I'm watching as the contractions are coming regularly and some pretty strong as well. Pretty cool . . . My OB arrives and tells me that we're going to get this party started! :D

    They hooked up my IV, although the first attempt was unsuccessful, the second one worked. Off to the OR to get my epidural put in . . . OUCH!!! Then of course the tingly feeling in my legs; then no feeling at all but I am completely awake and lucid . . . the nurses and anesthesiologist are discussing movies they'd seen recently or wanted to see as I'm lying there willing myself to not throw-up. Then my DH is brought in and my OB comes in and the procedure begins. Before I know it Baby A is out kicking & screaming then two minutes later comes her sister. Throughout the whole procedure my OB is telling me how well everything is going and how perfect the babies are . . .this pregnancy had been uneventful and so textbook that I shouldn't have been surprised that the delivery would be anything less. This was my fourth c-section and the only one during which I was actually able to watch them clean up the babies. I have to say it was the best experience I've had of all my c-sections.

    Well, as you can see, not a particularly dramatic birth story. The most dramatic thing about the whole thing is that it took place a day earlier than we planned. The girls are just beautiful and I'm adjusting well to being a twin mommy. Happily, they are both great nursers and tandem nursing is way easier than I thought it would be. The two older boys are in love with their sisters, my 2 year old is really unphased by his sisters' arrival.

    Thanks to everyone for your stories and support. Wishing the rest of you happy healthy pregnancies and deliveries.
