My twin girls were born last wednesday april 16th by c-section. Lauren Marie was born at 10:52 pm weighing 4 lb 2 oz and at 17 inches long. Rachel Anne was born at 10:54 weighing 4 lb 13 oz and 17 1/2 inches long. They were 33 weeks 4 days.

At about 5:30 pm, I stood up and felt as if I were peeing my pants and could not stop. I ran to the bathroom and I had wet my underwear but not a whole lot and not through to my pants. I thought this could be my water breaking but who knows! I went to pickup dd from school and while I was gone, I would feel a little trickle everytime I was standing. I came home and called the doctor while packing a bag and doing laundry. While I was talking to the dr, I felt another big gush. This time I was pretty certain that I had some broken water. So, off we headed to the hospital at about 6:30pm. During the car ride, I all of a sudden had contractions 4-5 minutes apart. While I was being admitted and getting confirmation that indeed I did have broken water and was contracting, they sped up to every 2 minutes and got more intense. The plan was made to try to stall my labor for 48 hours so that I could get steroid shots for the lungs. They gave me the steroid shot, started mag sulfate and hoped the contractions would slow down and stop. They did slow down to about every 5 minutes for about a half hour then they sped up again and got a lot more intense. I was feeling a lot of pressure in my bottom like I had to pee and poop. The dr came in to check me and I was 6cm dilated, 90% effaced and at zero station. All of a sudden, we were going to the OR for a c-section.

The girls are doing well but they are still in the nicu gaining their strength and growing. They had minor troubles breathing in the first couple days and were on cpaps. But since then they have just been trying to gain back weight and learn to eat all their feeds by mouth. They both have ng tubes for feeding because they do sometimes get too tired to take a bottle. I was discharged on sunday and have been going back and forth to the hospital every day. It has been an exhausting and overwhelming week but the girls are doing great and are absolutely beautiful.
