Hi I am from Australia and just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Julie and I am 24 and a half weeks pregnant with twins a boy and a girl.

I cried when I found out I was pregnant as I didn't know what to do then I had to have an ultrasound at 6 and a half weeks because I was spotting but the spotting was fine but this is when I found out there was two in there. That was quite a shock. I will be a single parent but looking forward to it. I have copies of all the ultrasounds I have had except for the first one at 6 and a half weeks and the one I had just recently as I had to have that ultrasound at a different place and they don't do that there.

I was excited to learn at the gender scan that they were a boy and a girl as I was wondering how I would tell them apart if they were identical but now I am relaxing more as I know I won't have that problem.

At my last ultrasound which was on the 17th of October I found out that the boy weighs 700 grams and the girl weighs 690 grams. Both are apparently doing well. Both are extrememly active in there.

I have a blood test that I have to take on the 7th of November for diabetes apparently and then I see the dr again on the 14th of November. I am not too worried about the diabetes test as I don't have diabetes and everything else has been fine so I am not about to get stressed out by it.

I started off this pregnancy at 43 kilos and I am not 53.55 kilos. My dr assures me that my weight isn't an issue as they are growing fine in there. I have had a lot of people telling me that I should be putting on more weight but if they are still growing there it cannot be that big of a problem. I am ensuring that I eat properly and enough to sustain us all and that is all I have to do really. I am more concerned about the drinking of water thing as I don't normally drink such huge amounts of water and now I have too.

I am enjoying reading this forum and am taking it all in slowly. Trying to prepare myself as to what lies ahead lol.

Look forward to getting to know all of you.

I just thought I should add something I thought was funny. I ended up in emergency with pains after my first trimester thinking I was losing the babies (which of course wasn't the funny part I was really nervous) but it wasn't me losing the babies it was just my pelvis expanding. I didn't expect the sudden pain that just appeared out of nowhere but now I am more prepared for the expansion pains as I call them.

Sorry Due on the 4th of February. I was given that date when they thought there was only one in there. The dr has told me he wants to give me a c section on the 37th week.

    Thank you for the welcome.

Hi, I have thought of names. The boy will be named after me kind of his name will be Julian and the girl will be called Courtney after this girl at Rehab who taught my mum to walk again after her stroke.

No one in real life except my mum knows their names not even my sisters yet lol. I am one of those people who cannot keep secrets and so I told everyone straight away what I was having ie a boy and a girl and my mum said I need to keep something a surprise lol.

Hi, I always said if I was ever going to have any children ( which by the way I never thought I would) I said I would prefer to do it on my own. So I am happy to be doing it on my own. In some ways it would probably be easier if there was a partner but I can see advantages and disadvantages in both circumstances lol. I was told I was having a boy first before they told me what the other one was and I nearly cried as I thought how on earth am I going to raise two boys by myself not being a boy and all if you get my drift. So I am glad that I am having one of each. I can handle one boy. I have a nephew who said he would help lol. He has already stated that he will help in teaching the boy to defend himself after I told him the girl has already kicked him in the face lol. My nephew is hysterical.

Hi WOW we are close I wonder which one of us will give birth first. I will be asking you a lot about raising boys then lol. Since I know nothing about raising boys. Well I actually haven't raised any children yet I just seem to be more nervous about raising the boy then I am about the girl. Does that sound weird?

I hope your pregnancy is going well. Do you sometimes feel like you are being kicked in the bottom as I do and it is just weird. The whole octopus thing can be hilarious and annoying. I mean I am getting kicked all over the place. I did find out though not to eat too many lollies as one day a while ago I had a lolly binge the first time in my pregnancy and well lets just say it hyped them up and they kicked me non stop all day. I will not be doing that again lol.

Welcome :sign0016: , I have a 9 year old son (he will have just turned 10 when the twins come) and everyone I have told I am pregnant says, “I hope you have girls” (as these are identical, what ever they are… we haven’t found out yet). And if I could pick… I would pick boys (but I won’t cry if they are girls or anything, I just would pick boys). My sister has had 2 girl (4 & 2) and they have come and stayed with me for 2 weeks at a time while she vacations (my sister vacations A LOT). And I would pick boys… they have a lot of energy (boys) and can be rough… but my son doesn’t cry a quarter as much as my nieces (and it is quite alright for men to cry in my family) and he doesn’t wine as much… he doesn’t throw half the tantrums they do or did when he was 2 or 4… BUT he had also had stitches before his 1st birthday and won’t just sit and watch Ginger Rodgers movies as my 2 year old niece will… My husband said when he found out I was preggers he wanted a girl, when he found out they were identical twins 2 days later, he said I want boys… now that to me is weird… why does the fact they are twins make you change your mind? He doesn’t know either… just said that’s how he feels…

i will say i would like a little girl BUT i wouldnt like teenage girls...

I did not like drinking water eithor, but after learning how well it helps with contractions I started drinking nothing but water! I drink about 3 liters a day! I don't have any proof, but I think it has helped with keeping the stretch marks away also!

Congrats on your B/G twins! You'll find a wealth of info. from this site along the way!

I have been hearing a lot of people say boys are easier as girls are more temperamental so to speak lol. When I found out I was having twins I said I wanted two girls or a boy and a girl but not two boys. I got the boy and girl. Well at least now I will be able to make up my own mind as to which is the easier to raise. My nephew wanted me to have two boys as he has only two sisters. He is thirteen and his two sisters are 3 and 1 and he think they are spoilt brats lol. He did have a brother but his brother drowned when he was four his brother and him were 4 years apart. Mum looked after the two boys whilst my sister and her partner worked and she said they are easier to look after then girls, my mum having had 3 girls under 4 one of them being me. I am the youngest of 3 girls. My other sister has no children yet but is thinking about the whole pregnancy thing.

I hope you have a great pregnancy.

Hi, I don't drink anything but water. I am just not a big drinker but I am trying my very best to drink more. 3 litres sounds like a lot. I think I am drinking about a litre. Obviously I am going to try harder then as it appears a few people on here have mentioned the 3 litre thing. I haven't got any stretch marks yet but I am moisturising every day and oiling my belly. I drink gatorade and powerade as well since my little dehydration in emergency. The drs told me to drink gatorade and powerade if I feel dehydrated so now I drink it anyway just in case I haven't drank enough water that day. Thank you for the congratulations and I am finding a lot of information on this site helpful.

Hi, thanks for the congrats. My sister who has had 4 single births, my other sister who hasn't had any children yet and my mum who I am living with for the moment till they are born. I will also be joining the multiple birth association here in Sydney. I have met a few of the members already. One of them actually directed me to this site. I have a friend who is about 2 weeks behind me in her pregnancy with a single as well. So we chat a lot to each other.

I think the kicks and punches are getting a little stronger every day. I was kicked or punched this morning and I have to say it hurt.
