Well, I had an ultrasound today to figure out my due date and I am due on April 25th with ONE baby :) Yeah! I am so excited, I am 7 weeks pregnant and am feeling a little relieved that I am having one this time. I have the best Dr. and she is so encouraging and throughout our discussion today she was encouraging me to have a VBAC which I think is great! It doesn't seem that there are many Dr's who suggest that or encourage it. I am so happy :) Just wanted to share.

yay!! April 25th is my birthday!!! I'm trying for vbac too... I encourage you to do lots of research on it...I'm glad that all my docs are pro-vbac...and they are also letting me go past my due date. One thing I've come across is that it's not a good idea to induce with vbac... it increases the uterine rupture rate somewhat...and it also really increases your chances of having an emergency c/s regardless. I read a stat somewhere...something like 47% of inductions (regardless of vbac or not) wind up being c/s!!! I was shocked. Anyway with a vbac you have more motivation to not allow an induction... normal rupture rates are somewhere between .5% and 1.2%... with induction using pitocin it's around .7% to 1.5%. Not a huge difference but significant... with other induction drugs it might be higher..there was one used in the 90s that had a UR rate of like 12%..it was ridiculous... Anyway the best stats for successful vbac are for spontaneous labors without an epidural until you are at least a 5cm... after that I'm not sure on the specific stats on how epidurals/pitocin agumentation affect things. Personally, I'm going to be trying to go for as long as possible without the epidural..in the hopes to avoid the use of pitocin altogether... My docs are comfortable using it...but I'd prefer to keep my ctx as natural as possible to keep the risk of rupture really really low. There was actually a study out recently that puts the risk of UR at around .2% for women who have already had a successful vag delivery...anyway that made me happy since I had one with my first dd.

Okay, sorry...way more info than what you needed for now...can you tell I have nothing but vbac on the brain!! LOL!!

YAY for one baby this time! My mom's birthday is April 25...sounds like it's a good "birth date" all the way around! I'm glad your dr. encourages VBAC...mine does too. I ahven't decided what I will do yet though. I have plenty of time.

Hey, you're due right after me! Ok, so I'll probably go a little earlier than that.. but...
COngrats on only one! That is VERY exciting! My Nurse practioner seemed happy I was going to try for a VBAC. Of course, that is if BOTH babies cooperate this time. I wish you an easy & healthy pregnancy! I look forward to your updates!

    YAY!! Congrats on a singleton!!

I wish now I could have a VBAC... I will have no help when coming home from my c-section, I will have a newborn and twins to look after while in pain... I am freaking out!!
