all day Tuesday I was out with my dad at dr. appts and running errands - my girls were dressed VERY girly,
pink and flowers and little pink sun hats. well I had several people ask me if they were boys or girls and one lady even said
"a boy and a girl?" I said no both girls - she said well that one looks like a boy!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!! no she does not!!!!
and I feel very sorry for the boy(s) dressed in flowery, pink sun dresses!!!

SO.. today I was out w/ them again but this time I dressed them in blue ( NAVY BLUE!!!)
guess what ... everyone we came across said what pretty girls or wow 2 girls!!!!
    what is up with that???!!!!

I feel the same way. I get the "one boy one girl" comment all the time!!! And they are always in pink or purple or dresses and bonnets!! I have to say also that elderly women get very snooty when I correct them and then i get the "well she looks like a boy" comment! What IS up with that? The only outfits that they never get confused in are also navy blue.. but they are elmo cheerleading outfits. You may be on to something here.

Maybe Jenny was on to something. She had responded to another post about pre war boys being dressed in pink and girls in blue - maybe that's stuck in some people's minds.

    Hmmm..makes you wonder

LOL. Sorry I posted about the same thing not too long ago I had a lady practically argue with me that my little girl was certainly a boy and looked just like one. She was wearing a little jean dress with pink flowers and bears all over it, pink socks and a pink baseball cap. What is wrong with people??? Maybe I should put DD in the outfit DS had on that day camo overalls with a truck on them and then people will get it right.

We also get the "one girl one boy" comment alot. It's funny because they always think Yanik is the girl. I'm not sure why. We laugh about it all the time and sometimes we'll call him Yanika for fun.
The poor boy will probably grow up all confused with crazy parents like us.

What is up with that??!!? I get the "one boy, one girl" comment all of the time too! I don't know why it drives me crazy. Like pp's, I have gotten that even when the girls are decked out in pink or purple DRESSES for god sakes.

I always get the "boy and a girl?" comment, even when my girls are dressed in identical pink dresses with pink blankets! What is wrong with people?

Well I DO have a boy and a girl and they are in their carseat carriers when we are in the store. My girl definitely looks girly and my boy equally boyish, their carseats are very different, his is black and she has pink gingham, yet no matter what people still ask is it a boy and a girl. it's not just twins either; people would always ask no mattter if my DD was head to toe in pink flowers or not and my SIL said someone practically had a fit when she told them "her son" was her daughter because she had her wearing jeans.
maybe we should all just start dressing our kids alike in androgynous clothes so they really won't know. :D

I have b/g also and we always get the "two boys" question all the time, even though Emily is almost always in girly pink or purple stuff. The other day DH told some lady "yep, two boys, but we just wanted a girl so bad that we dress one in pink." I could have died!!!

I was with a friend a few months ago who had her 3 month old daughter dressed in the frilliest pink dress, big flowered head band, pink tights---the works. An elderly woman came up and asked if it was a boy or a girl. I'm sorry, but if the tights and head band didn't give it away there is just something WRONG with people!

When I was out with them when they were younger, everyone would say Oh, a boy and a girl... and they would always have on matching outfits. LOL

Clothes really mean nothing. I dressed Kayla in blue all the time and I had the occasional pink for Kyle (my favorite shirt he has right now is a pink polo although now it is fairly obvious he is a boy :D ). Guess it is a good thing that people are looking beyond the materialistic side and going on what they think the babies truly look like, not what they are wearing.

Some people probably can't afford a wide variety of clothes and will dress their child in whatever they have and fits at the time (maybe an older sibling is the opposite sex?). Kim5kids sent me a huge box of sleepers for K&K when they were newborns, Kyle grew faster than K so I used the girl ones on him until K grew big enough for them herself.

It didn't end for me until they got their first "little boy" haircuts. Before then, one or the other was often proclaimed a girl. They're identical, for goodness sakes, and they're always dressed in "boy" clothes. I did often think of agreeing with people and adding that we're hoping dressing "her" like a boy would keep some therapist busy for years to come.

We has the two boys comment at Walmart the other day... granted they were in boy outfits because those where the only soccer outfirs i could find. When we were at the fields they had in white bows but it got so hot I stripped their outfits and everything.... so in the Walmart parking lot my fiance didn't want them in the store naked so I threw them back on minus bows... The cashier asks "two boys" we said no she says "are you sure they are in boy outfits" of course we are sure!!!! She kept pushing about them looking like boys and being in boy colors etc..... she finally tells us we need to put bows in there hair if they are girls....

Sometimes I think it takes a sign on the babies saying the gender........

I know, I have to admit that I have made the mistake of calling a girl a boy or a boy a girl before with singleton babies and twins. It really is hard to tell when they are so young. Granted, if I see a baby dressed in all girly colors, I don't usually get THAT one wrong but I have deffinately said "boy?" when it was a girl especially if they are dressed in "boy colors" or neutral colors. People always think Lorien is a boy because her hair is still very short and boyish looking (I can't keep any clips in it cause her hair is so fine and pin straight) and the truth is, she looks JUST like her daddy. I always tell people when they realize they made a mistake not to worry about it cause it's hard to tell at this point (although if she is head to toe in pink and purple you would think they may be able to correctly guess ;) )
