I am 32 weeks preg with twins. My doctors just seem so nonchalant about everything, and I guess I felt with twins I should expect more. Has anyone else had this with their docs? All they ever say is great! Things look wonderful, any questions? Luckily I have been reading several books on twins, but I just feel weird. Then the kicker is this. For two days I was having contractions about 10 minutes apart all day. My doc checked my cervix, said it was closed and long, and to just take it easy. I told him that I am fine when laying down, but the second I get up I am in contraction. Now I feel I can hardly move at all, and he still says just take it easy. I often wonder if I should be on bed rest. I don't know, just wondering what other mothers have experienced with their OB's. By the way, he was amazing for one, and I loved his calm demeanor.

My doc was just like that. Nonchalant about everything and I LOVED it. I personally think there is too much drama brought into twin pregnancies and not all of then warrant it. If it makes you uncomfortable and you want him to do something, tell him... he is working for you. I know that sounds snotty, but alot of people just take a "whatever you say" approach with doctors and its not right. If you feel you should have an NST or u/s to check things out, tell him. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like you're doing great. I would stay off your feet and drink as much water as possible; maybe put yourself on modified bedrest. 32 weeks is awfully early.

Congratulations on your twins, and welcome to Twinstuff by the way!!

I was just put on bedrest and taken off work for a bit of a scare last week-when I get up I have contractions, I was dilated to a 3 when I went in to labor and delivery...I had to stay at the hospital for two days to get things under control-I guess so long as the contractions are not producing anything then it is concidered normal. Take it easy though...I didnt and look where I ended up-now I have been forced to. Good luck!

You could have written that post for me:) My doctors say the same thing. I am 33 weeks so close to you. Usually every appointment they just say I am doing great, cervix is fine...but like you I seem to have contractions when every I am up and about, but it doesn't look like they are causing any change. Even though they don't seem too concerned I take it upon myself to take it easy and just lay down and drink tons of water when I feel like I am having a lot of contractions. This is my second week of twice weekly NSTs. I think I figured as I got closer things would change. I finally asked today about going out on disability after the 1st of the year. They said they were fine with that and would be fine if I wanted to go out today. Just try to listen to your body and take it easy even if they don't stress that.

I know how you feel. I'm not on bedrest or having any problems, but when they first told me I was having twins I was in shock. They told me on a Friday and by Sunday I wondered how they could just tell you this and send you home! When I told my OB, she said that it is common to feel this way, so I just try to deal with it and not be nervous all the time. (Every little thing makes me wonder if it's normal or should I be concerned.) ^_^

same for me! and I'm also 33 weeks. I'm contracting all day long (started around 27 weeks), and more when I am active but my cervix is so far closed, I have low blood pressure, good weight gain (I had gained 46 pounds by 32 weeks), babies are ok according to U/S, etc... so my doctor is happy with that. recently I've had a few more painful contractions and mentioned it, she just asked me if they were regular, which is not the case, so basically she's not really worried. And I'm still working, but I think this week will be the last, then I will take whatever vacation time I have from this year and next year plus my maternity leave.

33 weeks is not that early. apparently, if you make it to 34 weeks, you usually don't expect any problem, the babies would probably stay 2 weeks or so at the NICU and that would be it! I'm hoping to hold for a couple of weeks, but who knows, maybe even longer, you never know.

    so hang in there!

It's great to read all these comments. I am 32 weeks and just found out about this forum. I SOOOOOO wish I would have known about it before!! I would have been posting ever hour LOL.

It's nice that so many others are in the same boat. I research everything, so I have been reading so much about twins my husband says he's going to take my books away :p I can't help it, I want to know EVERYTHING. I suppose that's why I am always feeling my doctors are not helping when they are so lackadaisical about it. I do have to agree with the mama who said Twins can be over dramatized though, I think sometimes people treat pregnancy as a "condition" and not a natural part of life. It's just that twins are so totally different from my first pregnancy. Its almost like I have never been preg before :)
