Sorry you are butting heads. Is there any way to shift the conversation; to bring out your point that you were not aware how popular madison was when you agreed to it, and that you don't want your little girl to be one of MANY in every classroom and group she is in? (personally, I've always thought the mom should have WAY more say in the naming of babies: after all, WE'RE the ones who carry them for so long!!!) Perhaps if you approach it that way (and preface your conversation by saying that you really want to have a discussion, not an argument, and that it's important to you that he really LISTEN, and you will listen to him), AND bring some other choices, that might help. Good luck!
I feel your pain!! my dh and I did not name our girls until a couple of hours before we brought them home - we had picked out names and changed them - we butted heads more over these girls names than over anything ever!!! Madison is a very pretty name - it is becoming more popular - but it is a great name. if you want to change it - keep working on him - maybe you can keep suggesting other names until you find one that he likes even more!! GOOD LUCK!!!!
I love the name Madison, too, but I agree... it is very popular. Does that bother your husband? Just keep gently throwing names out there, maybe one will catch his interest. You have lots of time to get him to think about it. Maybe something similiar, but not quite as popular? Good luck! Helen
Sorry I don't really have any advice other than what the pps have said. Names are so important because they last a lifetime. For us, it was important that we both agree on the names, even if neither one is our ABSOLUTE favorite. We 'think' we've decided for sure. Just keep subtly hinting at other names, but try not to nag the poor guy TOO much.
Love the name Madison (see my siggy ). It is becoming a very popular name, I have met several younger Madisons lately but Im still happy I chose the name, my dh even met a Madison Grace where we used to live and it was a small town. Anyways, just keep talking...who knows maybe when they are born you will see her and she wont look like a Madison.
Madison is a great name... dd's name is Madison. It is becoming a popular name, but do you really want to name her something unique and out of the ordinary? My name is Serena and no one can remember it or spell it. I get called Sabrina ALL THE TIME and it's annoying. Or I get people spelling it Sarina. So from someone who has an name that is not that common, I can tell you when I was growing up I wished my name was Sarah or Samantha...or I would have even gone by my middle name Michelle. Just my opinion. But I think Madison Lynne is pretty...or you could even just change it a little to Madeleine which is also very pretty. Just with my DH, once he said he liked a name, we went with it becuase he hated all my other picks, Peyton, Taylor, Kyra...
It is becoming popular, I know three little girls named Madison, but it is a beautiful name. I would just wait until they are born, who knows she may not end up looking like a Madison to you guys. Serena, I knew a girl with your name when I was growing up in Oregon. I always thought it was a pretty name.
thanks for the feedback. i guess i should be happy because thats one name he really liked. anyways thanks again!!

I have 3 Jen's as friends and grew up with many more.I have actually joked that Madison is this generation's Jennifer! We have 3 in our neighborhood. It's all over the place....Good luck!
No offense to mother's of Madison but the meaning is "son of Maud" which is enough to turn me off. Maybe Madeline in stead.
I remember about 10 years ago every girl was named Kaitlyn, now its Madison I guess! LOL! We had Madison Riley picked out for a girl 6 years ago when I was PG with Garrett but he was a boy! LOL! I REALLY like Hunter Wade and Madison Lynne, especially since the mn's are from you and dh!!!
What about Madelyn? It's close to Madison, but less popular. It also incorporates Lynne, so you could use a less common middle name.
