My DD is making me insane

Lily is driving me nuts. I am so sick of hearing her cry/play etc... in her pack n play when she is tired. NO matter how over or under or just right tired she is she just lays there and plays and fusses and MAYBE falls asleep for 1/2 hour and then lays there and fusses and plays again. It is making me NUTS.

I just put them down for their first nap asnd she has been doing this for 1/2 an hour now and she yawned twice as I put her down so I KNOW she is tired. Luckily, she sleeps fairly well at night but she cannot nap at all and her brother naps like a champ.

That being said she has to go to bed earlier than her brother because she can't nap for junk and then she wants to wake up earlier and I always have to wake him up.

I feel like a terrible mom for saying this but she is driving me nuts...AND, she doesn't eat well either and I just wonder if it is going to be like this forever. So far, for the short duration of her little 4.5mos. on this earth she had completely cared less about sleeping. She would go all day without naps for the first 6 or 8 weeks of her life until we found the miracle blanket. Well, we can't use those anymore, she is out in a second. And, no amount of rocking or holding works...she just screams more. Please make this end...she needs rest during the day.

Amy, I swaddled my guys for naps until 7 months out of necessity. Sometimes they broke free, but it helped them to fall off to sleep. I know it's a little late, but I just had to get them sleeping!

I would not mind going back to that with her but she can get out of the MIRACLE BLANKET in about 2 minutes.

Maybe I will try again today.

Thanks for letting me vent though.

Don't feel guilty about being frustrated. Some days I thought I would go off the deep end with Evan in those first few months. He was SO HIGH MAINTENANCE, it was impossible. But now he's the happiest baby in the world. You'll get there.

    Amy, :hug99:

One of my girls will sleep where ever, when ever if she is tired. She will simply lay her head down, pop her thumb in her mouth and be out.. even if its in the noisiest room with kids playing all around her.

My other girl is NOT this way at all. She has been higher maintenance from day 1. She needs the quiet and no toys around to really settle down. And even then, she usually fusses before taking a nap.

I'm no expert on naps because we are still trying to get into a routine where they nap together (difficult when one will just stop playing and instantly fall asleep on the floor), but my sweet Meara needs to be in a separate room away from noise, distraction and toys. I'm also going to get black out shades for their room because I think she will settle down better if its dark since she has no problems going to sleep at night.

Don't feel bad about being frustrated. I have to say that those first couple of months were difficult because Meara needed every bit of my attention and Ana is so laid back that she got less of my time (but as my husband said "She doesn't seem upset does she?"). Its gotten more even now and they demand my attention more equally. And my 'high maintanence' girl is SO much fun! She is funny and happy and will give a big smile and laugh if you merely look at her. Ana, my more laid back kiddo, is also happy and fun, but you have to work harder to get a laugh out of her.

I am so sorry that you are frustrated. I have had many a day like that too. I dont really know what a miracle blanket is but we used the swaddle things from Kiddopotomus (sp?) from Babies R Us. They had velcro fasteners. I am not sure if she can get out of that if you do it tight enough or if she is just a little contortionist??

Maybe you could try swaddling her with a really big blanket that she can't bust out of?

:hug99: You must totally be going nuts now. I hope it gets better soon!

Does she like the swing? Will she nap longer in there?

I was trying to break the habit of having the girls nap in their cradle swings. But they just won't sleep as long in their crib during the day, so I gave up. They will nap for 2 hours in their swings. Since they sleep great at night in their cribs, I figured the swings aren't spoiling them.

Does you use a mobile to put her to sleep at night? Can you rig it up in the PNP for during the day?

I definitely know how it feels to be frustrated and at the end of your rope. I hope things get better for you soon.

The miracle blanket is a swaddle device that actually ties their arms down behind their backs and if they can get out of the they can get out of anything.

I even think the ceiling fan keeps her awake as she plays keep awake watching it.

She is doing it again this morning. I am going to loss my mind.

my little girl is a cat napper during the day too. ;) My little boy sleeps great.. during the day and at night... I have just accepted it. She is not a huge fuddy girl but for sure needs to sleep but wont. I like to say that she hates to miss any part of the day and at night she does great. The only part that is diff for mine is they go to sleep at the same time and are up at the same time normally. ;)
