My daughter is 35 weeks 4 days pregnant with twin girls. She had an appointment with the Fetal Specialist today to measure growth. Baby A (Abigail Hope) is measuring 5 lbs-7 oz and Baby B (Gabriella Grace) is 5 lbs-8 oz. We have gotten excellent reports on babies until today. Gabriella's stomach is measuring small and her fluids are getting low. They are fraternal twins. The doctor said that Gabriella's stomach was in the 4 percentile where Abigail is in the 26 percentile. The ultrasound tech said that it could have been the position she was in when the ultrasound was done. The doctor said it could be a problem or it could me nothing.Heart rates are 143 and 158. All other organs appear to be ok. They will be monitoring the babies twice weekly. Her next appointment is Thursday at 2:00 Eastern time. She will go to her OB-GYN at 3:00. Please keep them in your prayers and also if anyone has had a similar experience we would like to hear from you.

I hope everything goes OK!! Remember that u/s are not an exact science. Just clicking a little bit in either direction can change the measurements dramatically, especially on an organ as small as a kidney. It also depends on the quality of the u/s machine that was used, and how skilled the technician was. There are so many different factors that play into it. I had an u/s sound the night before I delivered my girls and they told me they were 2lbs, and 2lbs 8oz...well you can see in my stats how much they actually weighed. Best of luck you your Daughter and her baby girls!!

I hope that everything is ok!! That far along it can be hard to get a really good measurement, so I hope it was just that and nothing else.

The babies will definately be in my thoughts and prayers. I agree with Tali that this late in the pregnancy it is hard to measure things in there. Keep us posted on things. :good:

Same thing happened to me at about same time. Turned out following week tech stated other tech made a mistake and just couldn't see well. The stomach makes huge diff in measurments and at that stage very hard to get accurate belly measurements. I'm going to say don't worry based on my experience. All turned out fine-babies born last week at almost 36 weeks weighing 5lbs 12 oz and 5 lbs 14ozs. God bless but I'm sure the babies are good!

Thank You all for your thoughts, prayers and reassurance. This is such a shock when they were in the 62 percentile at 32 weeks 4 days. The ultrasound tech was very reassuring. The doctor was not so much. I have since been told by someone who worked with him that although he is very intelligent he will freak you out. He is one of those doctors who gives you all the negatives without a lot of positive reinforcement. I have prayed and God has gave me peace although my daughter is still somewhat of a basket case. I actually had the tech bring the doctor back in because my daughter was crying and my son in law was in a panic. My neice who is training to be an ultrasound tech and has worked with this particular doctor said that she could guarantee that if it was life threatening they would have sent her to Delivery. We are trying to keep that in mind. Again Thank You All for the Support.
