My boys made their debut!

Well, I went to the doctor on Monday freaked out because I had not felt the boys move all morning. Turns out I was suffering from preeclampsia--that stinking swelling!--so the doctor immediately admitted me to the hospital for observation. So much for having a hospital bag prepared! My blood pressure only worsened over night so I had to be dripped full of magnesium and so much blood was drawn that my arms are swollen and bruised. By Tuesday morning it was evident that the boys needed to be delivered and a vag birth was out of the question so I had the boys via c-section.

Asher Banister was born at 1:08 weighing 4.6 lbs and was 1.5 inches long. At 1:09 Soren Carlton was born weighing 4.15 lbs and measured 17.75 inches long. I saw them for a few moments then we were separated for almost two days because we were all so sick. When I did finally get to see them my heart swooned and seemed to break at the same time! I was struck by how beautiful they were but also by how sad I was that they were in the NICU. They are turbo and each day make some sort of progress so hopefully they will be home in a week or two. I left the hospital last night and felt like my heart and lungs had been torn from my body b/c it was sooooo difficult to leave them behind.

Congratulations. It is very hard to leave them behind. Mine have been in the NICU for 8 days now and it gets harder and harder every day that I have to come back home. Maybe your little guys will come home soon.

Congrats! I'm glad you and the babies are doing well. It's so scary when you aren't able to visit them. I'm still in the hospital and am finally able move well enough to make it back and forth to the NICU to visit for 1/2 hour at a time (when the swelling/pain doesn't get too bad).
