Hello everyone...my boys arrived!! So now I am officially a part of the first year forum!! I posted some pics in expecting if any one would like to see.

So far.....we are all happy and healthy. They only thing is that one of my babies has a reflux problem. We noticed in the hospital that we was gagging on this clear mucous stuff. My pedi said that it was probably acid reflux and she prescribed him Zantac. After my milk came in he seemed to be doing better, and I chose not to give him the medicine. Then after a couple days he had some major spit up sessions...so I gave him the medicine and it seems to help. I can tell the reflux hurts him though...he is always swallowing...and he just seems uncomfortable a lot. He acts totally different than his brother. I am really scared b/c everything I have read says that reflux can be a long hard road. My singleton had colic, and those were some of the roughest months I have ever had. I just hope this clears up...or is a very mild case.

Anyway, I look forward to talking to you all. This board has been fantastic!!!

congrats and welcome! My girls both have reflux, and it can be difficult; the best thing you can do is keep him upright for 30 minutes after he eats - yes, it is a HUGE drag, especially when they are eating every two hours! if you can tandem nurse that will help you get some rest; i never could. If the meds help the acid then the spitting up shouldn't really hurt him - but i got about three dozen cloth diapers to use as burp cloths because they worked teh best for us. Get used to the endless rounds of laundry!

Good luck w/it - and try not to assume the worst.
