Im proud to announce that my boys arrived huge and healthy on Monday 27th November. (38w2d)

Lucas was first born at 4.03pm weighing 2750g (6lb 1oz) at a length of 45cm

    &

    Lachlan was born at 4.10pm weighing 3530g (7lb 13oz) at a length of 51cm.

Induction all began going to plan with my arrival at the hospital at 7.30am, by 9.30 i was hooked up to the IV to get things progressing. Contractions began really quickly, so they turned the drip down a little, around 11.30 I was nagging the midwives for my epidural (I'd had enough by then). With the epi in place, I cheered up a bit and at around 3pm I advised the midwife that I felt pressure down there and on examination they found Lucas's head in the birth canal. The midwife doing the internal was absolutely amazed as she could feel the babies ear, eye and nose....

After a bit of fussing around and some more organising, they decided it was time to start delivering these babies. I'd have to say that the epidural is fantastic for pain relief, but doesnt help when it comes to needing to push, so I let it wear off so I could feel what I doing. This ended up being a little mistake on my behalf as Lucas decided to make a backtrack in the birth canal and turn his head the other way round.

The midwives called the OB from downstairs and the registrar on duty. They quickly decided that the boys were getting a little stressed out.

The OB made the decision to deliver using rotational forceps and a swap to smaller forceps to pull Lucas out. OUCH!!!!!

So Lucas was delivered, checked out, given an score of 9:9 and handed to his dad.

Lachlan was in breech position, so the OB decided to deliver him by going in and grabbing hi. OUCH!!!!!!AGAIN.

He was delivered, checked and scored at 6:9 and handed to me.

Both babies never left my side and we then went down to postnatal ward.

With babies both feeding well, needing no NICU time and everything going well we were discharged and all sent home less than 48 hours after arrival.

So after the pain of birth, I'd do it all again if things went as perfectly for my boys as things did this time.
