My Boys Are Here!

I thought this day would never come...my reporting the birth of my sweet boys!! But it came and went and here we are...

On Wednesday June 10 my water broke at home around 8:30 am...(34 w 6d) We made it to the hospital quickly and discovered I was only dilated to 1 so nothing had to be rushed. One of the babies was still breech so we opted for a c-section... at 1 pm I went in and....

Duncan Geoffrey was born at 1:52 pm 5 lbs 17 3/4 in

Griffin Allan was born at 1:54 pm 5 lbs 16 1/2 in

The boys were taken right to NICU and soon were breathing well on their own... so the next step was to see how they would feed. They started out well but have slowed down a bit so they are still in NICU and I was released today. It was VERY HARD to leave them behind... even until the next visit...but it is also wonderful to be home with my 3 year old and loving him up a whole bunch!

Everything went well for me.... having had a vaginal delivery the first time around I was very concerned about a c-section. On the day of delivery I was way out of it afterwards... Day 2 I was pretty sore... but Day 3 and 4 I have continued to feel better. It actually isn't as bad as I had expected... it doesn't feel "great" but it's not so bad either... The one big irritant is that the PUPPPS rash appeared about 4 days before delivery and was driving me crazy... it has only gotten worse and has spread since delivery! Yuck!!! I will be doing a steroid series to try and get rid of it... it is quite uncomfortable...

To everyone who is close to delivery-- HANG IN THERE!!! I was right there a few days ago...YOU CAN DO IT!!!

 

Congrats on the birth of your boys! :welcome: to the First Year! There is also a NICU forum on TS where you can share your story and frustrations with others who have been there! Leaving my boys at the hospital was a VERY hard day for me. Your boys are good weights though so as soon as they can prove they can suck/swallow/breath they'll be breakin' out of there!
