My boys are here!

Just wanted to announce that Austin Chandler and Miles Kennedy arrived on May 20th at 10:40 am via c-section. They were 5 lb 12 oz and 5 lb 3 oz, respectively. After feeling some early symptoms of labour, my water broke on Wednesday morning at 6 am and we were on our way to the hospital minutes later after some funny stumbling around trying to figure out what was happening. Fortunately my doctor came on call at 8 am and after having about 4 contractions I was wheeled into the delivery room. The section went very smoothly and the boys passed their APGAR with flying colours. They didn't go to NICU right away; they were doing really well until a couple hours after birth when their glucose levels were a little low. Then we went to NICU, where we had amazing nurses who helped a lot with breastfeeding and general newborn stuff. Austin came out of the NICU on Thursday afternoon, and Miles came out on Friday afternoon because he was still having a little trouble with feeding. By Friday both boys had taken to breastfeeding and we spent all day Saturday with a lactation consultant and just getting the scheduling down.. we had absolutely amazing care! My c-section was not nearly as bad as I expected; the first day I felt pretty nauseous and there was a lot of pain when I pulled out of the meds, but four days in I am up and around pretty well.

So, we're home now and resting comfortably.. just trying to get everyone and everything in order
