On Friday July 16th We had my dh's parents over for supper. I noticed that I was have a lot of Braxton Hicks I thought maybe I needed to drink more water. So thats what I did. They didn't hurt but they were pretty strong at times.... Ive been having BH through out this whole pregnancy even went to the hospital about a month earlier and it was fine... So anyways I had diarrhea (TMI) once that night and went to bed.. I started thinking in bed about all the things I still need to get ready for these babies.. My bags werent fully packed... I figured I would do it in the morning have a shower and see how I feel. Went to sleep. In the morning I still had braxton hicks. Went diarrhea twice.. I decided we should goto the hospital and get this checked out...

Well I was in labor, contractions every 3 minutes, even though nothing hurt yet. I was only 1cm dilated when I got there and then 2cm. Baby B's heart rate was dropping with the contractions. They decided to do the c-section. I was 35wks 4 days. Logan Rudy Ross was born first 5lbs 14oz, ( yes I know, the babies have both grandfathers for their middle names,.. I wasnt to sure about Rudy heheh) And Cole David Ross 6lbs 9oz.. Both great sizes for twins.. We went off to the recovery room.

The boys were hungry so they were fed. We were there for about an hour and then moved to our room. I noticed that Logan was snorting lots and his breathing didn't sound normal, I called the nurse. She took him away and I didn't see him until the next day. He was put on CPAP. A machine to help him breath. And on Antibiotics just incase it was an infection... That night with Cole is a blur. My dh stayed with me in the hospital that night and did all the feeding and changing.. I was awake all night.

The next day I was wheeled over to see Logan. The snorting stopped and he was to come back to me that day. And he did. I was soooooo tired while in the hospital lol No sleep for 3 nights. Not that I was up with the boys the whole time, it was because I was excited.. One nurse took the babies for one feed and I had 4 hours of sleep!! YEAH!! I Was pretty happy about that!!!

Let me just add this little gross event that happened to me while I was in my room..UGH.. I was sitting on the toilet, must have leaned to the side and all of a sudden I heard like a wet pop kind of noise and blood squirted from my incision onto my legs and floor!!!!!!!!!! I was soooo disgusted and started to get dizzy... Oh my god soooo friggin gross.. I couldnt see the incision because of the belly still but UGH Soooooooo gross. But yeah I was told this a good thing.. If the air was still in there it could cause an infection.. So yeah any weird popping noises with blood squirting out, be happy I guess! LOL

Tuesday morning I was getting ready to go home.. My dr said I was good to go and so were babies.. They just had to pass this car seat test.. Hmmmm I had no idea what this test was, seemed like no big deal.. Nurse told me to get ready while they are in the test.. So I did.. I had a shower, started packing.. All emotional about finally brining my babies home... You know the hormones..My husband was putting the base off the carseats in the car and on his way over to the hospital, my husbands aunt came by and I told her to just wait here, the babies will be here soon..Then the nurse from NICU came.. They failed the test :( Basically they arent breathing properly. And I was explained all about the car seat test then.. I wish they kind of prepared me more for this... But I think everyone assumed that these guys would pass. They are great sizes, they were almost 36 weeks.. Seemed healthy.. Maybe they figured they would pass... I dont know I was really upset. Soo i called my husband told him not to worry about the base and that they failed the test... He came to the hospital and we saw our babies in the NICU :( They showed us around and talked alittle more about whats going on.. I was told that these problems are typical with this gestation and I knew there are so many babies worse off but leaving that hospital with no babies and just an empty belly had to be the worse feeling ever... I watched other parents bring their babies home for the first couple days it really bothered me.. I was an emotional wreck..

I felt bad for my kids. Because it seemed to be all about the babies... Now that I think about it though... Maybe it was just in my mind.. Because thats all that was in my mind.. My kids were fine. We made it as normal to them as we could... ANything and everything made me cry.. I hated being in pain from the surgery, my boobs killed... Finally friday I felt ok and decided I could goto the hospital myself. And I did only to have someone try to break into my car while there!! We had our car up on kijiji to sell and this happens , I cried in the parking lot of course.

ANyways Im ALOT better now. Babies are still in the hospital though and doing well. They were both put on Caffeine so hopefully that will help them.. They did go through some feeding issues too while they were there but things are getting better.. They are soooo tired, to tired to eat.. But its getting sooo much better now..Im REALLY thinking maybe by this weekend.. Its just weird because they are pretty big and almost 36 weeks with these problems. and STILL in the hospital

Congratulations!!! for your babies and I hope they will soon be out of the hospital. I wish you and your family the best and may the twins always be healthy and bring you joy. A lot of twins spend time in NICU for feeding and breathing in the begining, I am sure they will be fine. Keep us posted on their progress and I hope you can get some rest and recover soon. Good luck with everything!

CONGRATS! I know it is hard to leave your babies in the NICU especially when they were good size, it doesn't make sense. My son was born at 35 weeks at 6#9oz 19 1/2in and was on a vent and in the NICU 9 days, so I can relate when you think they are good size and should have no problems! Take heart... it seems like an eternity that they are there, but I look back 12 years ago and it is all a blurr!!! They will be home before you know it! Blessings!!!!!!!
