I am naming my Son "Zander Thomas" and my Daughter "Zoe Cameron" . I really wanted to spell Zander with an X ( Xander ) but I am afraid people will mispronounce it and Zoe starts with a Z .

Cute names - well done on making a decision! If you really want to spell it Xander, go for it. I would have pronounced it with the z sound.

I like both of the names you picked out. Very creative!

I agree with pp if you like Xander tht is the way I would spell it. I automatically think the z sound with that spelling

I don't normally like non-traditional spellings. (A trait common among us teachers btw). But I think Xander is common enough that people would know how to pronounce it, especially as that's the way it would be spelt and pronounced if it were short for Alexander.

My Mother in Law does not like the name "Zander" she would prefer I name him "Alexander" and call him "Zander" . I am so annoyed by this . I asked her when I was thinking of names if she had any requests . She said she would like us to use her late brother's name "Thomas" in our boys name some how.......Zander Thomas is what I chose . We have been calling the twins by their names for months . I understand that they aren't born yet but still . My 8 yr old son was talking to his Spiderman slippers the other night and he called them Zander and Zoe . What should I do ?

Thomas means twin so that's lovely, your MIL will be happy.
I don't think you need to worry about your 8 year old, once they are out, he'll get the idea better. He's heard that comb from you so maybe he felt like his slippers were "his babies".

I like the names you choose, but I would go with Xander. I think it is the more traditional spelling and I don't think you should have much trouble with it.

Your mil has had her chance at naming her babies. These are your children and your choice. Bad luck if she does not agree with the name you have chosen. It is a great name.
Whenever my MIL puts forward a particularly annoying opinion about my twins, I say 'well, luckily only Dave and I have to agree on that issue'. Yes I am blunt but she doesn't get it any other way.

I like Xander too! You know people mispronounce names even easy ones. My friend's name is Marie and they call her Mary or Maria. So I wouldn't worry to much about it. As far as your MIL, name them what you want, you included Thomas in the name so she should be happy. My MIL hated my DD name so much she refuses to call her by it and gave her another name. Of course we all call her by her real name.

I like it spelled with a Z. I think alot of people dont like matching names, but I love that a b/g name can look similar.

Now we have decided to go with Dylan for our son and Cameron for our daughter middle names are still up in the air . We still have about 8 to 10 weeks to figure it out .

I like the name Xander with the 'x'. I think its cute to have the names start with the same letter though..so if you want to do it that way, its obviously your decision. . but if the sole reason you are spelling it with a Z is because you think it would be mispronounced with an X, I dont think you really have anything to worry about. As pp's said, I think it is a 'given' that Xander sounds the same as it would be spelled Zander.

As for your MIL she had her input, and you did what she asked. Its too late now. AND they are YOUR children NOT hers, so if you want his name to be Xander and NOT Alexander, that is your decision. Tough luck for her!

Edited after reading OPs last post: So you are changing their first names now?? I thought you said you had been calling them the other names for months now. . .ok, well it is your decision. I just got a little confused, b/c the first time I read it I thought you were changing the middle names, but it says Middle names are up in the air.. ok.

You should go with the way you like it. You already included Thomas in the name :)

Xander and Zoe are beautiful! I think that most people know that Xander is pronounced ith the "Z" sound...
Dylan and Cameron are nice too...
GL in which ever you choose to do! Use those 4 names, they sound good together!
