My Boy/Girl Nursery Bedding

I have been fretting about how to decorate my boy/girl nursery and was not sure what to do! Do I go neutral, do I coordinate? The one thing I was sure about is that I'm not keen on characters and I didn't want to spend a fortune -- the $150 bedding sets where not conducive to my budget. In fact, little is fitting in my budget now that I know twins are on the way! This is my 2nd pregnancy, but my daughter's bedding was way too girly to reuse, plus I want the new little ones to have their own thing.

I knew separates would be the way to go -- that way I could just get what I wanted and not get stuck with two quilts that I will never use. I looked and contemplated several separates from Target, but nothing ever really jumped out at me as "the one." I finally found something that fit into my style, which is more vintage/Shabby Chic/cottage etc., at Babies R Us yesterday. It was perfect! They sell separates that are relatively reasonably priced. I put them on my registry and I think they are relatively affordable. I know have less expensive items like these might be a good choice for anything picking up stuff for my baby shower. People keep asking me if I'm registered and I'm trying to pick stuff that is practical and not pricey.

I thought I'd post my bedding choices because I know I've seen posts here before about decorating for boy/girl situations. The bedding is by CoCaLo. The girl's line is called Ellie and is pink and green:
    Ellie

The boy's line is called Emory and is blue and green:
    Emory

If the girl turns out to be a boy at our next ultrasound (the doctor was "pretty sure" it was a girl) then I'll change my registry to have two Emory sets instead and just go with blue and green.

We will paint the room green and the carpet is a pale, pale tan. I already have one white crib, and I'm going to pick up a second less expensive one that matches it. We have a white changing table, and I'm just going to change the knobs on the drawers -- I saw green clear glass ones at Target that I think will be nice. I also registered for a green and white polka dot changing pad cover. I already have a white bookcase and a white shelf, as well as a white and green lamp that I think will work. It's such a weight off my shoulders that I feel like I have a direction for this room finally! I was having a hard time and I'm glad we at least have a paint color to start with and can get started working on this room. I was 19 weeks yesterday and I had an "OMG" moment where I realized I'm probably more than halfway there!

I feel your pain. The only sets I liked were close to $100 for each set and most of the stuff in the sets I wasn't going to use. I ended up buying cream sheets and making comforters on my own. The walls are just a tan/beige color, wood floors and white cribs and furniture. The bedding is colorful and use the same colors but the boy's has more blue/argyle print and the girl's has more red/flower print. I don't have any pictures. I had imagined all kinds of things on the walls, but at this point, I am fine with getting the walls painted and the comforters finished to lay in their cribs. Of course, for the first 6 months or so they can't use them, but they look nice.

That is perfect!! When I was viewing the pics and saw they both had green, I was thinking green paint also. I think the green glass knobs will look great!!
We are having two boys so it made things a little easier. We are doing one set with Jungle babies by NOJO and the other Farm babies by NOJO. They both have green in them my husband painted the room green, just tonight as a matter of fact. but I kept even tossing the thought around as to whether or not to get the same bedding set or two different ones that will go together. But I loved both sets, so got two different ones. But your babies room is going to look great!!
