So where to begin. Feb 19th - I went to the Dr's for my pre-op and everything looked great for a go for Tuesday. I was still very tired from the weekend's activities.

So we checked into the hospital at 5.30 ish, so I could get some monitoring of the babies, contractions etc. Babies squiggly and wiggly as usual. So all settled for a last good nights sleep. Lights went off at 10. I was sleeping GOOD. Still fast asleep at quarter to three, when I felt a huge POP in my belly and then a very loud gush. My waters had broken and I started to go into labor. Frantically buzzed the nurses who were just amazing. They told me to go stand in the bathroom while they cleaned up my bed and everything. I was like a deer frozen in the headlights. And let me just add - it was a good job it didn't happen in one of the beds at home. Anyway, they put me in a nice hot shower and cleaned me all up. Surgery was scheduled for 9 am that morning in any event. But they called my Dr. and he bumped everything up to 7 o’clock. I waited a little while before calling DH as I knew there was little he could do. They also gave me two shots to slow down the contractions – Brethine I believe. Once 7 o’clock reached it was go, go, go.
Got to the operating theatre, all set up with my epidural. They didn’t want to turn it up too high until I had the babies so I could feel a little more than normal. Lots of ow, ow, ow’ing going on.

On February 20th, at 35 wks, 1dy, and at 7.49 am, Jordan Philip arrived into this world weighing 6.5lbs, followed by his sister, Sienna Madison at 7.50 weight 3.4lbs.

There were some concerns with Sienna and so they transported her to the hospital next door which has the best NICU on the island. DH went with her. So I just got a quick kiss and off she went.

From all the reports I have had, she is doing just great. It’s just hard that I can’t see her right now but DH is doing great going back and forth between the two hospitals.

Tuesday I was mostly out of it and very very painful. The drugs they gave me totally knocked me out but didn’t seem to cure the pain. So I just dozed in and out. Made an attempt a breastfeeding and seemed to get a latch. So was quite pleased for a first attempt. Wednesday I asked for a drug that wouldn’t make me so drowsy but would also help with the pain. So I am on Percocet now. They tried to get me up on Wednesday morning and turn me over. I have NEVER been so painful in my life. Apparently I am full of gas and man let me tell you it hurts like ****. I wish they had warned me about the gas as I would not have had a Pepsi as my first drink after surgery. And followed by a second one moments later. Urgh what was I thinking. So there is a word of advice for anyone having a c-section - no carbonated drinks for a while.

I will try and post some links for some pictures - just have to figure out how to do it.

Congratulations! I hope Sienna has a short NICU stay! I know what you mean about the gas....it does get better after a couple of days. My nurses wouldn't let me have soda for a few days after my c-section.

a Pepsi!! [IMG] my goodness...my nurses wouldn't even let me use a straw b/c they said that drinking from them makes you swallow more air!!! No wonder you were in so much pain...I hope things get better soon. Congratulations!!

Congrats on your babies! Hopefully your little girl can be with you soon. I have had 2 c-sections and if at all possible try walking around some. (not too much though) It helps relieve the gas pressure.

    Congratulations!

I hope you start feeling a little better today. The gas was the most painful part for me also. I sooo wanted a Diet Coke and my friend was kind enough to bring me one but I ended up letting my husband drink it because I couldn't bear any more gas!

I hope you are reunited with Sienna real soon and Jordan continues to do well!

Congratulations! I hope little Sienna comes home soon. My Annika was 3.3 when she was born at 35 wks. She just needed to gain weight and the strength to eat enough by mouth and was home in 3 wks - a little longer than we'd expected, but anything for a healthy baby, which she is!
I'm so happy for you and look forward to those pics!

Congrats on a good job...and glad you were at the hospital when your water broke! 35 weeks is great, even if your DD is a little small in size. Hope her stay is short and sweet! Good job mama -enjoy your new blessings!
