So I went in for a dr. apt last tuesday Sept 4th at 1130am. I was having an nst done which was routine, but Brenna failed her test because she didn't make enough movement in the alotted time. My dr. decided that I should go to ob triage to have an bp u/s and nst done just to be safe. So I went straight to the hospital from my dr's office and they started monitoring the babies. They had me do an u/s as well and everything looked fine. The funny thing was, I was having strong contractions just a few hours after I got to the hospital. Ironic eh? By the time they were done running tests and doing the u/s my contractions were about 4 min apart and very uncomfortable. The nurse decided to check my cervix since they were so regular and I was dilated to almost 3cm. They called the dr. on call and he wanted me to stay overnight for observation to see if I progressed or not. I was put in a L&D room and monitored overnight. It was really frustrating though because they checked me after a couple hours and I had progressed 1 cm so I thought that was considered active labor. But the dr. on call didn't consider it active labor and wouldn't do a c-section unless I got to 5 cm. He seemed like a wuss to put it frankly. So I was very upset the whole night, I was uncomfortable having all these contractions and didn't understand why I should have to go through all this if the babies weren't going to come. So the on call dr. said he would prefer for me to wait till the morning when my dr. would be on call and then we would decide what to do. I got maybe 30min of sleep here and there that night and finally at 820am on wed. morning my dr. arrived at the hospital. He walked in, didn't even check my cervix and just said "How does a 9am c-section sound?" My hubby and I were thrilled! I was so glad that I waited for my dr. to get there and didn't have "Dr. Wuss" do my c-section because he didn't seem to have much confidence whatsoever. I was prepped for the c-section and the procedure itself was a breeze, no pain whatsoever. Even the spinal wasn't as bad as everyone said it was. The babies were born at 941am and 943, Brenna at 6lbs. 17 and a half inches and Brooke at 6lbs. 11oz. and 18and a half inches. I met them in the recovery room soon after and got to hold them for the first time which was wonderful! Unfortunately Brooke was heaving and her nostrils were flaring when she would breath. They decided to take her to the Nicu to have an u/s and be observed. Turns out she had liquid in her lungs and that was causing the problems. I was pretty upset to see her leave, but Kevin stayed with her and that made me feel better. Brooke was better by early the next morning and joined me and her sister in our room. The first few days were really hard on me with the c-section and all. My whole body seemed to be out of whack. My dr. let me stay for a full 4 days and we came home on Sunday. The girls are doing great, I am tandem breastfeeding and it has been great so far. To any women intimidated by bf twins I would say, go for it! Get some help from the lactaction consultants at the hospital, get an ez-2nurse pillow and go for it! I'm pretty sure that the girls are fraternal twins, but sometimes they look so much alike it's hard to know for sure. Being a mom of twins is a challenge but it's so worth it! Enjoy the picts and good luck with your own little ones! :a_smil09:

Congratulations! I am sorry that you had to go through such hassel in labor waiting for your doctor to be available! I am sure it was worth the wait though, you don't want someone who seems unprepared preforming major surgery on you!

Your babies are beautiful, and they look alike to me! I am wondering if mine are going to be ID or Frat and if I will be able to tell right away!

Enjoy your beautiful little girls! :birthday:

Your Girls are so beautiful....you are so blessed. What an end of one journey....and now the fun just begins....I am planning to tandem nurse my twins when they arrive too. I just got the EZ nurse pillow....I love the picture of them in their crib...it looks like one of the girls has a little smile on her face! and the one of them wrapped up in the blankets with Daddy's hand on them, that one is priceless!!!

    Enjoy your blessings!

Congrats...what cuties!! they look awfully identical to me!! I think this might be a good case for genetic testing down the road!! It looks like Brooke has a little fold in her left earlobe does Brenna have the same fold on her left side? Hopefully not, that would be a great way to tell them apart!!
