Alright this is just a self-indulgent post with no real meaning. I'm very reluctantly saying good bye to our infant seats and to my beloved double snap-n-go. I ordered our convertible car seats over the weekend and they will be delivered in a couple of days. While the girls technically still fit in the infant seats, they are getting too big and heavy and its just time to switch them over to big girl car seats. Where did my tiny babies go?! They now stand and cruise and clap and say mama and dada and eat real food and its seems like it was a million years ago that they were those 3 1/2 lb monkey babies. I'm starting to think about their first birthday party and think back to a year ago when I was put on strict bedrest and was just counting down each day I was pregnant as a gift. And now I have big girls who give the best hugs and are just the two sweetest people I've ever met... and who can fit into big girl car seats :) Now how the heck am I going to get them out to the car by myself?!?!

oh, am i right there with you! I'm looking at mine the playyard right now, exchanging toys, waving bye-bye...and they now say 'cat, cat', and 'kitty cat' - in additon to the much-beloved mamama, of course!

they're even starting to CLIMB on things. I spent hours this weekend going through clothes (preparing for our upcoming trips); putting stuff aside to pass on and storing what i can't beart to let go of (and you can be sure i'll be hiding those two boxes from DH who is NOT sentimental in that way!!). It just amazes me that they used to fit into those clothes, i remember when they were huge on them and now they're practically WALKING.
And to watch them, so focused as they stay busy 'working' all day...ok, i can't think abou tit or i'll start to cry.

:hug99: As amazing as it is to see them grow and become little people, it is sad how fast time goes by, huh? :cray:
As far as getting them to the car and back by yourself, do you have a playpen near your door? I used to toss one in there while I got the other to the car. Or if it's childproofed by the door/hallway, you can leave on in the house while taking the other one to the car. Good luck...this is just another reminder that we have to embrace every minute with them.

Now you get to use those big arm muscles you got carrying them in the infant seats to carry the babies without the seat. I would corral one in the pack in play and load the other at that age.

We moved to big kid seats at 3 months as Thomas was approaching the height limit on it. It turns out it is not that bad. I throw them in a sling and go. By the time I get to the car they are getting too heavy, but it works.

Currently they are 38 pounds. :)

Awwwww, you are reaching a GREAT age, despite losing the infancy of your babies. I most often take the girls out to the car one at a time. When I do take them together, I will put one on the floor while I strap the other in, and I put my knee in front of the chest of the one on the floor to keep her from going forward.
