My big boys are here! Birth story

On Dec 26, my babies Daniel Stephen and Ryan Patrick were born by scheduled c-section at 37 w, 1 day. Although they are fraternal they had identical weights and measurements...each was 8# 9 oz, 19"! My U/S estimates were accurate! I am beyond thrilled and grateful that both boys are healthy and had no NICU time...the hospital was filling up and I agreed to be discharged after a three day hospital stay and we all went home together. (Before I forget Daniel's middle name was after my FIL...they were born on his 70th birthday.)

First of all I cannot believe how much I love them. To have two at once and the instant, attendant overpowering love is more than I can describe. All of you dear pregnant ladies I promise you in the end your misery is sooo worth it. This pregnancy was the absolutely, positively the most miserable 9 mos of my life. But looking at my boys' dear little faces, holding them and feeling their soft newborn skin and smell is the best thing in the world! You truly have to be a twin mom to understand the happiness I'm attempting to explain.

Also it is completely amazing to me how DIFFERENT they are. At less than a week old they look totally unique and have such individual temperaments, it's hard to believe they both came from me and were 'cooking' at the same time! [IMG]

Last, the c-section was surreal. With my 4 yr old DS, I had to be knocked out as they cut his cord because I felt the pain so I did not 'experience' his birth. This time around everything went fine...felt nothing but tugging and pulling, no pain whatsoever, and to hear my OB announcing each of their arrivals and them crying as I'm lying there on the table was out of this world. As soon as they were cleaned/evaluated they were brought over to me so we could look at each other and I got to kiss them. It was weird to walk into the hospital, know that in a few hours my sons would be born by planned birth, etc. But it went great!

I have tears in my eyes thinking about how wonderful and supportive you all have been. I don't know how I would have survived the past 9 mos without this site. At first it seemed an odd concept that I (any of us) would connect so deeply with virtual strangers but you all know what I'm talking about...this community is one in a million and I really cherish it.

Best of luck and lots of love to everyone!

Congrats - I was anxious to hear what your weights were. My peri will be jealous, she wants to deliver 9 lb pound twins and you were certainly close!

As you said it my thread, it was great being on the same "schedule."

See you on the fy board.

Sounds like everything went well. I can't believe the size of both them - way to go Mama. I'm jealous.

I will have a scheduled c-section at 37+1 also so it was good to hear that everything went smoothly for you.

    Enjoy every minute of it.!!

What a wonderful story! Congratulations and [IMG], Daniel and Ryan!! Thank you for your encouraging words, too. I'm really struggling with this final leg of pregnancy but my ultimate goal is just what you described of your boys -- big, healthy, pink babies who don't need NICU time. Your story really helped me visualize the goal even more...just what I needed!

    Enjoy those precious bundles!

Meighan! This is wonderful news! I am so glad that your c-section went so well (as did mine) and that your boys were so big! You cook some great babies there, Meighan! How is your 4 year old handling everything? I bet he loves it to death. I know mine does. I can't wait to see you around more on the FY Board! PM if you need anything!

Oh and I love the boys names! Daniel is a personal favorite of mine- not good with the last name LaCroix though. Sounded like Daniel(le)LaCroix.

    [IMG] boys!

Your post nearly brought me to tears, too. I know exactly how you feel. Before having them, I wondered how on earth I could possibly love another child the way I love my DD, let alone TWO. Well, it's not only possible, it's completely unavoidable!!

I'm so happy for you. Post pix when you can!
