My belly is getting bigger by the minute!

I am 20 weeks and having mono/di twins. My belly seems to be growing at record speed. It feels like it gets bigger daily. My husband says that it does look bigger but not as much as it seems to me. I swear I woke up the morning and my stomach had gotten bigger overnight!!! I am sort of concerned because I know that could be a sign of TTTS. My clothes still fit etc. and I am in no pain. I have my next growth scan on Monday so I am thinking I will just wait and see what the results are. What do you guys think? Did you all of a sudden feel like your belly was growing faster or that all of a sudden you were just huge? When did it happen? Thanks. Melanie

 

The only sign I really had was that I gained about 4-5 pounds in a matter of a week. I was not in pain either and my clothes still fit, but the doctor who did my surgery told me the reason I looked so big was that I was carrying around alot of extra fluid from the TTTS.

I'd probably get checked if I were you just to be on the safe side, especially since you know you are having mono/di twins. This syndrome can progress quickly. Good luck, hope everything is just fine!

 

I am having fraternal twins, so no concerns about TTTS...but I definitely have growth spurts where it seems that my belly grows overnight after a week or so of no change in size. These growth spurts are generally accompanied by cramping and discomfort (I often worry it's preterm labor, but my doctor writes it off as "irritable uterus!").

I would get it checked out, just to be on the safe side.

 

I think I did get bigger overnight at times. I felt so huge but I am only 4 ft 11" so there really was nowher for it to show besides my belly. I was all in the front and gained less than 25lbs. You should call your Dr and mention your concern. It is always good to be cautious- especially since you are carrying mono/di twins. Let us know how you are. Good luck!

My girls are frats but I did feel like there w ere times that I got bigger overnight. If I were you I would probably call to at least ask the dr what he/she thinks , you are probably fine but you can never be too safe!

Thanks for the posts. I go in on Monday so I will let you know how the growth scan goes. I did not get very big with either of my girls, so this is all new for me. My last pregnancy my OB was always concerned because she thought I wouldn't measure correctly when she saw me, but I did and she just said that I carry my babies really close to me. This time I guess they have no where to go by outward!! melanie

 

Is your weight increasing rapidly too? If not, I wouldn't be as worried about the size increase as much concerning TTTS - and I'd just have the doc check on Monday.

We have TTTS, and I do have some polyhydramnios (between 9 to 12 cm on my recipient). . . if your stomach gets tight (not a contrax), if you feel like it's hard to breathe, or if you back starts aching - do call your doc.

 

All is well, went for my scan today and the babies are both 13 oz. No fluid discrepancy etc. I guess it was just a growth spurt!!

Melanie it is going to seem like you are getting bigger by the minute and being your third pregnancy and a pregnancy so soon you will probably show a lot faster and a lot larger. I know you have TTTS on the brain, sometimes to much knowledge is not a good thing. You need to relax, please sweets!! I am glad you went for a scan today, good to get that fear away!

Thanks, I know I am trying to relax as much as possible. Everything has been great so far~!!
