My babies are here

Nathan Allen ad Makenna Daire were born last Thursday 9/27/07 @ 10:00a and 10:01a. My water broke very unexpectedly at 3:45am and my labor could not be stopped.
He was 4.8 and she was 4 even. Both were 17". They are doing very well. She has apnea and is on caffeine. He hasn't started that yet but we won't be too surprised if he does.
We've been told not to expect them to come home until they're duedat which was 11/25/07. I really pray it's sooner than that. I'm pretty much a basketcase right now but I think that's sort of expected.

I will keep checking back in here but I'm going to need to come to terms with this. I wish the rest of you a happy and healthy 9 mos.

Christy, Congrats on your babies!! Both of mine were on caffeine for apnea also, it is very common in preemies. Please visit the NICU forum for any support you need during your NICU stay or any questions you have, we have all been there and know how hard it is to leave the hospital without your babies.

It's so hard when they're in the hospital; I only waited 3 wks for them and it about killed me, especially toward the end. But there's a great NICU forum here with wonderful support, and we're all here for you.

Congrats on your twins. One of mine was on caffeine for apnea and the other never needed it although he was having some episodes of apnea too. They came home right around 34 weeks gestation. I think the docs always tell you to think they will come home around the due date but just be prepared for them to come earlier.

Congratulations! My girls were born at exactly 31 weeks, and spent 5 and 6 weeks in the NICU, coming home 3 and 4 weeks before their due dates. The NICU is very hard, hang in there. It sounds like your babies are doing well.

My girls have no lingering preemie issues at all.

 

Congratulations on the babies. What a hard time, just know you aren't alone. Everyone here is rooting for you all! Come and cry here anytime you need to.
