7/9 (at 38 weeks 1 day) I had been cleaning house like a mad women trying to get ready for my sister visiting and hoping to get this labor going for real. I had PTL at 32 weeks and contractions at 36 weeks changing cervix from 2 to 4cm but then was sent home. We got my sister's plane ticket thinking there was no way I would go much longer, oops!

So I packed up the car, headed to my weekly OB check up ready with my reasons that we had to induce - mostly, my only source of help (sister) was coming for a week and the babies needed to be out! I had been feeling pretty cruddy all morning and in the car started contracting. The nurse said "you are contracting aren't you" - so quick check from the doctor; 5-6cm and 80% effaced with 0 station - "goodbye, go to the hospital - now"

So you would think they were on the way soon, oh no - my stubborn offspring were still not quite sure. I was contracting every 2 minutes with pretty significant back labor, but cervix not changing, add pitocin to the mix, cervix not changing. Break water at 10pm, cervix still at 5-6. Much more intense labor, 5cm to complete in about 1 hour, off to the OR we go, it was just before midnight and I was not going to push until they both would have the same bday, it took a bit to assemble all the people - nothing like a crowd of 30 onlookers!! Pushed for 20 minutes with DD (7/10 at 12:30am), she was sunnyside up so that was not fun, finally she did a tuck &roll and out she came. 1 push brought bro down- he soaked MD's when water broke and then a small blood vessel popped - oops, 2nd push & he was out (7/10 AT 12:36am). Both did great with heart rate & apgars, no nicu time, a few visits back to the nursery for low temps.

My doctor wasn't on, but the doctor I had was amazing and the resident I knew from earlier hosptializations and the "intern" (this is 10 days into internship time so usually interns are clueless and scary) had already completed 3 years of family medicine and then decided she wanted to do OB instead. She was wonderful. My nurse was a former Doula. I couldn't have asked for a better group.

Both had a bit of jaundice and came home on the bili blanket. DS was sluggish with nursing in the hospital and wouldn't latch at all at home so had EBM from a bottle and has since been latching well so no more pumping at this time. My sister went back to her home and we are doing really well, I was scared to be on my own but we are managing. DH will be off next week so that will be nice.

The hyperemesis was gone about 20 minutes after delivery, I was still in the OR getting a few stitches, and I could tell the difference immediately. I had my DH go to Subway while I was in labor so I had a sub waiting which I devoured at 4:30 am!!! I am having a wonderful time eating everything in site after 9 months of puking!!

All the back pain and ribs feeling like they were going to explode and nausea was so quickly a thing of the past. For those of you in that really difficult final stretch, hang in there. You will feel so much better so quickly and the love affair with these 2 little creatures is so incredible.

Thanks to all for your help and support.
